Yes
 But actually :bang:

So... I went a bought a flash template for my site (which WILL happen damn it!) I have downloaded the template.

:$ now what?

I also downloaded a Macromedia Flash MX trial version, as it was recommended. But when I try and open the 'fla' files in the library there, it keeps coming up with and error or just closes the software down

I'm usually pretty good with following instructions, but this is really bugging me, it won't work.. or I am doing something wrong

However I did managed to load the fonts OK :D

Can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial showing you an idiots guide to editing and using a flash template for your website? Like, with pictures and everything...

:help:

EDIT: sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I debated for half and hour which one to put it in, and wound up here. So if it's wrong please feel free to moved it :$

Here ya go, you might want to make a cuppa first as this could take a while. :)

Flash Tutorial

That site has a tutorial for pretty much any web language you need so worth a bookmark.

Good luck.

But I tried that site and can't find specifically what I am looking for... editing and using a flash template  The site I was recommended by the place I got the template was icetemplates help section. But it's not simple enough:$.

Maybe I am just too tired to be doing this yet, I've not been to bed since my night shift finished at 7am.

I'd get the Flash CS3 30 day trial from the Adobe website, Flash MX is very out of date.

It could also be something to do with opening the .fla in the library, to open a .fla file you just double click in in finder/explorer and it opens flash, like double clicking on a .doc opens word...

Flash is not a program to play with for most people

It is a high end development tool with a steep learning curve.

Been using it since can't remember when and most books have hundereds upon hunderds of pages.

It's OK. I have it working now. Like a plonker I had downloaded the wrong Macromedia version. I must have clicked the wrong link my accident.
:$

Watch this space, I hope to prove I'm not one of those people Psi ;)

I'm going to be brutality honest here, unless there are specific instructions with the flash template you are probably going to have serious problems with this, especially if you've never had flash experience before. You're going to have to read a fair amount of tutorials to grasp the basics of using Flash. Probably not what you want to hear, but I tell it like it is. Personally, I'd get someone to help you with this and at the same time try and learn as much as you can while you're at it.

It sounds like you've got it to work, but just so you know, it won't be plain sailing. lol. If you need a hand give me a shout.

I'm doing OK :) I have most of it done, just have the 'path' of the images to do now, which can wait until tomorrow. But thanks for the offer, I appreciate it :)
