I am all for diversity but........

Here's the cat among the pigeons.....listening to radio 4...... if you fail your asylum bid and you offer to drop any claims to UK citizenship you get a paid flight home plus £1500 to help you get set up back in your own country......laughable.....that is all

Google seems to back this up also, strangely enough with only posts from Dave showing on TP.

You clearly doubt my word, and there's nothing I can do to change that, other than 'naming names or forums', and I'm certainly not going to do that.

The comment 'Bear Pit' forum for TP is not of my making, and it appears to have existed for some time before I joined TP.

Looking at some of the posts here, it was easy to see where the description fitted. To be fair, it relates to a very small minority of members, and they are very likely to be in Cobra's list of 'watched' people.

We are not talking about disagreements here, but blatant ignorance rudeness by people who hide in safety of cyber space, usually behind obscure user names.

Its an unfortunate fact forums do tend to bring out the worst in some people, who in face-to-face situation would likely very different, where a physical confrontation might arise.

And thankfully only a small minority of forums / posts too.

Yes it does happen, keyboard warriors and "Friday night trolls"
People that have just got in from a "good night out" etc etc.
Its human nature, unfortunately.
And as long as forums exist the "problem" will also exist.
BTW you may call me anything, except late for dinner.
But my given name is Chris.

Absolutely and as we say, often, when situations arise,
don't say anything, to someone, that you wouldn't say face to face in a pub. ;)

Once again we'll just have to agree to disagree. For balance, I'm happy to suggest that google and other search engines find no such comments other than those I two I mentioned by you on Talk Photography and the mods have always acted promptly when an inappropriate comment has been reported, both of which are easily verifiable ;) :D

But should you find things inappropriate, then I suggest you use the report button in the future. As members of the forum it is the way to assist the Mods in making this the forum we wish it to be.

I never thought of Radio 4 as the Daily Mail of radio stations before. It'd be interesting to know how much keeping a failed asylum seeker here while they appealed, or having them deported would cost compared to that figure. I suspect that £1.5k + flight looks very cheap indeed

I know what you are saying cost of keeping them here while appealing.....but the point is that you or I would not get this offer if we went to a foreign country as an asylum seeker....we would be put on a plane at the opportunity and fired back to where we come from.....

I had a mate deported from the U.S. for trying to live there on a student visa and basically over staying....he got lifted at his work, drove back to his house, allowed to gather up his things and then took to a government facility and interviewed. Within 24 he was back in the UK and not even a "bon voyage" from uncle Sam

Well, we don't have to lower ourselves to their level!

You would and do get the same treatment over here. I had someone work for me who's permit had run out. They were treated pretty much the same.

Asylum cases are slightly different though ;) And not only Asylym, don't forget we are also part of Europe...
