Found out this morning that my Wife is being made redundant, so she will be out of work by the 12th December...Well Merry F****** Christmas!!

Thanks chaps. Im sure she will get another job, and luckily, as she has been with the same company for 10 years, she should get a fairly good pay out from them. Paul, yes I do seem to hear lots of stories of people being made redundant at this time of year, and it always surprises me that it happens so often. Never easy at any time of the year I guess, but we were hoping for a nice, quiet stress free Christmas break this year. Last Christmas/New Year our Daughter ended up in the Royal Brompton having an Op to drain fluid from around her heart, so we were looking forward to some normality this time around.

Hey ho....ho ho

Ouch, felt that one. Things does have a habit of working themselves out, though. All the best.

Happened to me last December mate, went back working for myself and am a damned site happier for it.

Sometimes a change can be a good thing.

Same company for 10 years. Should she not be getting 10 weeks notice.

It not good to hear that. I ope the change will bring good things

That's a b****r Nick.
I hope an opportunity is just around the corner for the Mrs. (y)

My other half recently went through this - ended up getting a job lined up to start straight away. Between redundancy pay and owed holiday she ended up getting a nice bonus for moving to a job she's much happier in.

Here's hoping your other half ends up in the same boat

she got a job on the ferries?

:coat:

Thanks Hugh/Ruth/Rick. Im sure it will all turn out ok, it was just a bit of a shock on an otherwise ordinary Tuesday morning.

Keith....just no! :D

That's pants Nick, I've a few friends on fb all from the same company being made redundant on the 12th too, it sucks..

Really sorry to hear that Nick. If it's any consolation, it happened to me once upon a time (and as pretty much the sole breadwinner). All I can say is it worked out tremendously well for me in the end as it forced me to do something I'd always wanted to, but being in a paid job was too comfortable to leave... when it was forced upon me, I took the leap and have never looked back.

I realise that's only one story (although I also have friends who have similar experiences) but what I would say is it is an opportunity for you and your wife to really think about what you want, what's important etc. I know you'll be panicking and fearing the worst right now but try not to let it get you too down and focus on what you're going to do next, together.

Good luck!

Many thanks Paul. My Wife has one of the strongest characters ive ever known in a person, so im sure it will be ok (y)

nows the time to look for a job though ,while she is in gainful employment ,and her present firm cannot refuse her time off for interviews either .you always stand more chance if your already working as well ,seems to go down better with employers

I hear she has been making good use of the company internet today :D (y)

Well no point posting on here, you better get cracking,
unless that was a "cry" for help? :D

Sorry to hear that Nick, Christmas does seem to be the "time" these days,
I hope she gets something sorted soon :)
