Hyster's 52 (Night added)

:clap:I like that. The lighting in the centre gives nice shadows. Nice kind of crowd as well.

Thanks for the comments folks.

@Jean
The lens used for the pic was a Canon 50mm f1.8, an old metal body one, its a lovely lens.

I love the lighting in this and, as Dark Star says, it's as good as I've seen

As for street photography, the first few times it felt really scary to me and I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb. Now I only feel uncomfortable if I haven't done any for a while.

A useful trick is to go with someone else and you can pretend you are taking a picture of them, get them to wave at you or something to make it obvious  Once you've done that a few times and got more of a feel for the street you'll feel more comfortable, because of this you'll be less noticeable too.

It can be especially useful if you've got a 70-200 I  mine as you can get some really good candids that way.

Other people have told me to shoot from the chest or waist, but I'm bad enough with the thing in front of my face :D When I've tried doing it I just get crazy angles :D

Thanks Bruja, thats a great idea, might just try that and thanks for your kind words.

Week 8

Wealth

Wealth.jpg

I had a few ideas for this but felt drawn to this one, Its a backlit closeup of a five dollar bill, brings back fab memorys too of a superb holiday last year with my family in Florida.

he has a very intense stare if you ask me, i can see lots of money pics this week.
not 100% sure on the back lighting though as you can see the writing etc from the other side and personally i find it distracting, sorry :)

I like this shot quite a lot, not sure for which specific reasons, but it's really eyecatching and even though you can tell it's money, it also looks like a very realistic face at the same time, nice idea  I like

That works really well, great close up and I think those eyes really make the shot.:clap:

I really like this interpretation. The backlighting showing the In God We Trust, plus part of the eagles wing on the front of the note gives a lot of clues to it's origin even if you don't recognise the face. Lovely macro work capturing the eyes so clearly.:clap:

Now that's a shot with real impact...;)

I like this a lot you have really got the crop just right for me in this shot...

Excellent shot from you this week...:clap::clap:

Wow how did I miss this one!!! The detail and backighting, as Jill says, just works brilliantly!

Great detail and loads of interest for me

Corker!

Very nice shot Hyster. I really like the backlit effect, it is a very eye catching image.

Well done

Like everyone else, I like the detail and the impact of the eyes. But I keep going back to the mouth and wishing the crop was slightly lower, just so it didn't cut across the lower lip. Sorry - there's always one, isn't there.

But that is just a small niggle and everything else is brilliant - I'd never have thought of backlighting it.:clap:

Week 9

Identity

Identity.jpg

Kind of struggled to get a clean finger print on the blade of the knife, originally tried to fit all of the blade in but the print just got lost in the picture. Tried to keep the fingerprint in focus and loose the rest as background.

Cheers for all the comments folks, sorry I have not been commenting of your pics, its been a busy week, phew, I can have a beer now

A very strong image and good take on the theme. What's the identity of the user of that Knife. The processing has worked well, and the DOF is really good. You're finger print is a lot better than mine in terms of the clarity and precision. The "blood" looks a little to vivid and red to my eye but that doesn't detract.

I great take on the theme, I thought about fingerprints but couldn't decide how best to achieve the right picture. I think you have it spot on.

That works really well...

The fingerprint is spot on for focus...great idea and good imagination...

Fantastic idea for the theme. a very chilling picture. the DOF works brilliantly too. must also agree on the blood, but a touch of pp-ing would easily solve that. atleast it shows that you didn't resort to using real blood!:lol::lol:  great shot!

Ah, but arterial blood is bright red, it's venous blood that looks darker. That would account for the spurt :D

Love the composition and a very clear fingerprint. Definitelt out of the box and a little spooky :D:lol:

Nice one, good take, nice DOF and composition - more blood maybe?:thumbs:

Crowd shot I'm not so sure of. Lovely warm image :)

Like the wealth shot a lot. Has great impact and is a very good interpetation. The personal application also adds feeling to the shot :)

Great interpretation of identity. Like the perspective. Nice clear finger print. Has a sinister feel. Great stuff

Week 10

Wisdom

Well, this is where I get what little wisdom I have in photography so this is a tip of my hat to this fantastic forum.

Wisdom.jpg

excellent shot imo, love the lighting from the lap top and the way you can just make out the glassses :D

Oooh that works nicely - composition and angle of view are terrific :)

and damn I missed your identity shot :( sorry!

And it a corker - love the sinister aspect of that one :) Dof and colours are great

Two great shots - both spot on the themes

Thanks John, much appreciated.

That works very well

I too find this site contains a lot of wisdom so I share your feelings on this. :D

The perspective is spot on and using the light from the screen really works well here. Yet another great interpretation on the theme - Wealth of Knowledge, Help, Advice and Inspiration. You've captured at least 4 :D :clap:

Absolutely brilliant shot from you this week...

I can't find anything I don't like...

in fact I love it, so simple but technically wonderful...:thumbs::thumbs:

I really thought I had commented on this yesterday - but I obviously didn't - sorry.:)

I love the low viewpoint and sharp angle you've used. The contrast between the bright screen (but not over-bright!) and the glasses and keyboard is excellent. This could have ended up being a boring, routine shot, but you've made a stylish and interesting image as well as illustrating the theme beautifully.:clap::clap:

Thank you

Wish I had though of that, I could have had a month off :D

Jean

Thanks as ever for your kind comments Jean.

Can't believe I missed your identity shot - its great fun. Hope no animals of humans were harmed in the making of that photo! I think I would have toned the red down to make it darker, but other than that - great!

As for using a shot of TP for wisdom - well - its a great shot - I like the lighting from the screen and the clear focus of whats on the screen. Composition is good too - I like the perspective. Could you have got a shot taking the screen actually looking through your glasses? I would like to have seen that! Now to the main problem with the image - surely you cannot call anyone on TP wise?! ;) - some of the advice we give out is anything but!

Week 11
