I have just been watching the news with regards to her majestys reign....when who should pop up with a speech in her presence...the one and only Jimmy Krankie (Nicola Sturgeon) giving a rousing speech on the wonderfulness of her majesty and her good deeds...Yes! The very same woman who wanted to breakaway from the union.....HYPOCRITE! Me thinks

But on a good point the sun is shining :D

I just saw that.
Rousing is pushing it

Hmmm, yes... I saw her too and thought the same and I then thought how easily many politicians trot out what they think we want to hear without believing or meaning a single word.

Here's a radical idea, let them make their speeches, with one hand on the bible ( other Holy writings are available)

I am fairly sure that although the SNP wanted independence they still wanted the Queen to remain the head of state

What would the point of independence be? It would be like me leaving my missus and still wanting sex from her:D

Not really the queen is still head of state to a lot of counties, I want to say 18 or 19 counties so if Scotland does go independent it's not weird in the slightest for them to maintain the queen as head of state

Steady on there! I'd offer them lions or crucifixion.
LOL But I agree your edit is more suitable :D

edit, I vote Lions BTW, we don't need any more bloody Martyrs ;)

Could always organise a joint House Of Commons and Lords day out and bus them all direct to Vale of Mowbrays pork pie factory. Waste not want not.

As far as I am concerned, it is black or white...you either want to be part of it or not....it is like her wanting to retain the pound and being backed by the bank of England...it just doesn't wash... With reference to a marriage...you are either committed to it out you are not.... No such thing as having your cake and eating it....:D

Nicola Spunkgun and her cronies are as detailed, hypocrites and will do or say anything to further own megalomaniac, nepotistic aims.

As for the queen, I don't give a toss either way, I'm neither anti nor royalist. I have met and spoken to her by the way. She is very small.

Aye but that wouldn't gel with some peoples need to find fault would it? Nicola Sturgeon could discover the cure for cancer and some forum members here would find a way to make it a negative thing.

But the Act of Union was a political union that postdates the union of the crowns by a couple of hundred years. Australia (*) has the Queen as titular (snigger) head of state without any political union with the UK, so why not Scotland?

(*) And many, many more...

Agree with this and when Scotland becomes independent then it will be for the people of Scotland to decide who will be their head of state or whether one is even needed

Yeah, OK, but there was just over 100 years between the two Unions, not a couple of centuries.

Yeah, ok 104. But it proves that you can have a shared monarch without political unity.

It's written into politicians contracts didn't you know?

Yes, many of them bring to mind snakes in the grass (or trees). Where they differ is in what variety of serpent they want to slither on the top table.

But salmonds and sturgeons is fisheses not serpentses...

When! It will happen ;)
And you'll be flung in the tower :p

It won't happen, not in my lifetime anyhow. Measures are already in place to ensure it doesn't happen. Trust me. The first vote was a huge flop for the Yes lot and it'll be a long time, if at all, before the opportunity is given again.

As for the tower, I've been locked up before, it don't faze me.

I gather you're for Scottish independence?

If you don't mind me asking... why exactly?

I don't know any Scots (only cross paths with a couple these days...) who've expressed any opinion and one thought that occurs to me is why some Scots feel so passionately about independence when Germany and Italy don't seem to have any great independence movements, although Spain does...

Is it a desire to be free from us English? The Tories? Or is it just a longing for self determination and if so I wonder why this isn't the case in other European countries.

If you have actually read my posts on the subject how the hell could you think I'm pro independence. I can't believe someone could be so wrong!!! I Suggest you re read my posts. I can only assume you quoted the wrong person.

I'M VEHEMENY ANTI INDEPENDENCE.

Personally, I prefer things as they are.

I don't spend too much time in this section and therefore I'm not aware if people have posted strong views on various things but thought you were pro based on...

Thanks for the suggestion to read your posts but I have a life to live and can't bothered to research peoples view on everything and took the lazy option of just asking, as I was interested in the views of a pro independance.... But.. I was wrong on this... ok. No need to have a melt down.

There were only 26 posts in this thread at the time you posted! And post #15 had @BRASH charmingly describe Nicola Sturgeon as "Nicola Spunkgun" - hardly the behaviour or a die-hard SNP voter...

If you can't be bothered then don't make assumptions. Even the one quote you did quote it's pretty clear I am not a supporter. Melt down? No melt, another down happening here, another inaccurate assumption I'm afraid, just pointing out the bleed in' obvious. As for having a life................???

What hypocrite? It was stated in the 2013 publication "Scotland’s future your guide to an independent Scotland" that Scotland would be a constitutional monarchy and Her Majesty The Queen would be head of state, in fact you can go back to 2002 publication A Constitution for a Free Scotland, where it also stated that the Queen would be retained as head of state.
As stated by others the Queen is the head of state of numbours countries that have gained their independence over the years.

Ps.

By the way a non hypocritical MP now there's a species rarer than hen’s teeth.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
