Hurt my back.

Now Matt, when you say hurt, what exactly do you mean?

Couple of disks ruptured? Torn muscles, or over zealous squeeze of a zit? :suspect:

On a more serious note you don't want to mess about with your back. Any pain in the legs, difficulty sitting down, pins and needles in the feet or anything?

If you have any of them get yourself along to the doc. It "could" be the start of disk problems which aren't fun :(

How bad is that?!?! 17 and I have a bad back

Aww no. Well i am 27 and got the back of a 80 year old:'(

I got Lumber Disc Degenerative Disease. So sore so know how ** feeling.

Going to speak to Surgeon again on Monday, Looks like surgery the only option left for a Spinal Fusion:'(:'(

Get some strong painkillers down ** throat and relax a bit:thumbs:

It wont. Will only get worse:'(:'(

Surgery is risky so i am stressed as what to do. Either risk surgery or put up with it. Grrrr Bloody back of an 80year old and feel like a 80 year old :lol:

I would say take it easy *** until pain a bit better then start moving again

:)

I only did the disks between L2,L3 and L4, still hurts after about 3 years. They decided against surgery though :)

Matt, hope your back is soon better.

I'm sure a large dose of Oulton Park will cure the back problem.

Same here. In 2006 I had a level two spinal fusion with titanium cages/bonegraft & frames. I had two discectomies and three epidurals before the fusion and all were a waste of time. The fusion sorted me out good and proper. Sounds like Matts is muscular.

tramadol, something like that? Still got a few in the cupboard I think  (Edit: come to think of it, they weren't that good so you're probably on something stronger)

Only thing that really worked for me at the time was morphine, my wife still laughs when she remembers the instant difference after getting the first injection.

Hearing all this matt? This is what carrying heavy DSLR's and 300mm F2.8 lenses does. NOW'S the time to go back to a compact, it's for your own good :D

:lol: Soudns like it :D:D I have a driving lesson in half an hour as well so that should be intresting lol. IT killed playing on the XBOX with a steering wheel so god knows how I will be in a real car!!

Have some onion, it's good for the back.

if it persists, some muscoskeletal therapy from a physio, chiro might do the trick. They will give you basic exercises to do till it eases up!

At your age young fella it's most likely a strain, but pay a visit to the quack to be sure. I've had problems with my back since a motorcycle accident when I was 19 and it's no joke, although nothing near as bad as some folks. Try taking up Pilates type exercise, especially exercises to correct your posture.

I have had spinal fusion and although I still get a little pain all is good.

Matt,

Give your back chance to settle. If you get surges of pain then the muscles sound as though they're in spasm. They'll need to relax before you'll see any improvement. If it helps sleep with a pillow under your knees and take ibuprofen(if you can) as an anti-inflammatory.If it doesn't improve over the next week then get to your GP.17 is too young to have back problems so get it sorted earlier rather than later.

I had L4/5 and L5/S1 fused 5 years ago and it was the best thing I ever had done!! I would say "Go for it" if you're given the chance. I was up and about (albeit quite slowly) the next day(with the help of morphine) and out of hospital on Christmas Eve 6 days later!

Good Luck!

Karin

I torn the muscles in my lower back a few years ago and had to have a month of work. The Doc told me my back would never be 100% again.

You have to be careful Matt, but do go and see the doctor to make sure it's nothing too serious.

Yes. Tramadol. Only ment to take 1 0r 2 at night. I am taking like 10+ a day:|

Sometimes 5 in one go

Then you should give it back to him!

Steve.

Really. God i have heard so many horror storys about it. Will see what they say on monday:)

Matt! you poor thing!

I have every sympathy for a bad back, I know how painful it can be :(

You beat me by 4 years, I was 21 before I slipped a disk for the first time, done it a few times now! :bonk: the most recent one was year before last when I moved house!

Don't forget that many things can throw your back out. One such problem could be posture. The way I sit at just about everything causes me problems. All the time I spend on my PC kills my back, I have an awful psture when driving and even doing my job (sitting at a drumkit, playing timps, marching with a drum attached) kills me too. And it's all down to posture. Matt, does your PC seat etc have any sort of lumbar support etc?

Try taking up Pilates type exercise, especially exercises to correct your posture.

Excatly what i was going to say, i had major issues a few years due to cycling overly tight/strong hipflexors throw my back out of alignment. I couldnt walk at one point fine on the bike though, took up pilates sorted it out, a few years after broke 3 virtbrae in the neck couldnt do it though my back out again, starte doing pilates again, sorted it. A few years later dislocated my shoulder couldn do it throw back out again, once i started it doing again back was good, still struggling with the shoulder a bit, but back feels ace (touch wood).

Reconmend it to any-one, so get yourself to a pilates class to learn the techneque, if your lucky the class will be set in some wonderfull scenery :naughty: (if you get what i mean)

Oh my Dad swore by Trimodal,(kidney stones) i took it a max strength when i did my neck, and shoulder dislocation (ok a rather complex dislocation) it nothing for me other then make me feel like chucking, only painkiller i found to work was endorphin and testosterone (or in other words, ignoring the pain and getting back to the gym, not sure what that says about me though )

To heck with the kids. How much do you want for the pain killers ?

Seriously though------Be careful you can end up doing more damage because you dont feel the pain. Take care.
Pete.

Interestingly, when I had my spinal fusion I was told to make sure I kept up with the morphine so that I could do more...

Thanks for all your advice guys and gals after my driving lesson it was fine and has been ever since. How wierd!!?!??!

Matt just to be on the safe side I'd recomend avoiding sitting at your computer for, oh I don't know, 6 months or so?

Let us know how you get on, we'll see you in October :D

That's because it couldn't knock a small cat out. I was on it (for prolapsed discs), and it was like popping smarties. Something tells me the NHS buy it bulk at discount.
