This hurricane is about 150 miles off the coast of Louisiana/Texas and is a category 4..(out of 5) wind speeds of 140mph. It’s life-threatening and the forecasters have used the term..non-survivable..storm surge..The last one this region had at this intensity was in 1956. There will be widespread flooding as the area is low-lying.

It will make landfall later this evening, their time which is 6 hours behind us..so as I post ..2245..it’s 1645 there. I’m assuming ‘later this evening..tonight..will be around 2200 there..0400 here but,of course it will be dark. anyone interested might like to watch this live TV channel. When I last looked they were urging people to evacuate from low-lying areas.

It shows Lake Charles on the map directly in line. Here is a live webcam of it and the skies are already looking threatening. It would be a good idea to look at between 1.00pm 2.00pm tomorrow as their sunrise is 7.00am.

The storm is so large it could shift a bit east or west as seen on the TV map. West is Houston, which,at present will get away with the worst but the storm skies should still be seen.

Houston live cam.

Anyone really interested could note the locations inland of the storm track as seen on the tv link above...or any other source by Googling...and see if there are live webcams there. A couple of years ago I was able to watch a thunderstorm in the Austrian Alps by doing this having looked at a lightning map of Europe..blitzortung. ..Translated..lightning locations. I regularly watch live webcams in cities around the world.
