Just done my good deed for the year.............rescued a bloody big spider out of the bath and set it free on our balcony, when I say big it was about 3" legspan with a 1cm body width so it was pretty well fed lol

I hate the damm things but it was trying desperately to escape the bath I plucked up courage and let it go onto one hand and let it go outside onto a wall............yes I am incredibly brave

Braver than me!

I would have turned the hot tap on full and washed the thing down the plughole. Evil little things - I hate them!

Even if it curled up this one wouldnt go through the holes in my waste it was BIG lol

love (lone) it! even

Thanks for taking pity on it! I like spiders. They're interesting and attractive creatures that kill a lot of pests.

AFAIK, none of the UK ones are dangerous. I don't know if any of them can actually bite hard enough to be painful.

I have two mental Oriental cats, into everything. One has a habit of stealing food in the kitchen, then when the other approaches, gives himself away by growling loudly.

One morning last week I was aware of an unholy amount of noise coming from the kitchen, hissing, spitting, growling, wailing, the lot. Thinking Monte has stolen my sarnies my wife left out for me, I go to rescue them. The cat is in the middle of the floor, arched back, fur fluffed out, stamping around on his tiptoes, ears pinned back and teeth bared. Quite a sight (he is a huge cat!). Still unable to see what it was all about I walked over to him, only to see a massive brown spider on the floor with it's front legs raised in the air at him! Monte was continuing his huge display of 'I'M BIG!', until the spider started to scuttle towards him and he ran away!

It was left to the muh smaller, and blind, cat to rescue the day by waiting for the spider to run past him, then eating him. Horrible, I was traumatised!

I thought I'd be the big man as usual and rescue a rather large spider from the bath and do the old pretend to throw it at the missus thing. Then it bit me. Left a red mark similair to a wasp sting. Serves me right I suppose for being a prat.

I don't think any that live in the UK can actually break your skin. I like them too, I'd never kill one. I tend to just leave them to get on with it, unless they are stuck in the bath, when I will just put them on the shelf or something. Even if you put them outside they will just come straight back in

I love em!! :) The majority of the big ones found in your house house are barn spiders, perfectly harmless, washing them down the plug hole is pointless as they will just come back in again :lol: And it`s a myth that they actually gain entry via that way as well. Apparantly those long legged skinny looking ones that just seem to make cobwebs are very toxic, luckily they cannot penetrate our skin.

Well it deffo bit me! Next time I'll check it's passport to see if it's from foreign parts... :D
