I hate Paypal, with a passion.

Ok, last week I bought a lens with my credit card... or so I thought.

The payment was for £1400 but it wouldn't let me put through the full amount (limit is £1500 and I told them a large payment was going to go through the day before) so I contacted the seller and he said to try two smaller payments. So I put through one payment of £800 and another of £600. As I put through the second one it selected my default debit card which I didn't notice and it pulled £600 from my current account :gag:

I have contacted the seller and he is happy to return the £600 if I pay it on my credit card as I explained the situation.

What we're both not sure on is that if the seller cancels the payment will the cash be returned straight into my Paypal account, bank account or what? The payment went through last Thursday so is it even possible for him to cancel the payment?

Again. I hate Paypal even through this is my fault.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as £600 is a lot of money to me :shake:

Thanks in advance,
Brian.

lots of wonga to anyone

the recipient of the money on paypal should not retunr the money via another transaction

they should return or cancel the transaction...as this returns the funds to your paypal account and returns any fees incurred.
this can be done up to 2 weeks after I think
I'll check.

however, it might just go back to your paypal account and not all the way back into your current account.

He can issue a full or partial refund, eezy-peezy, so long as he has the funds in his account.

As your payment was funded by a card, I'm pretty sure it'll go straight back to your bank account.

I use two PP accounts, one mainly for receiving payments and the other for spending. Dunno if you can still do it, but they're set up so the spending account is NOT linked to a bank account.

I *think* that if the recipient makes a refund, no charges will be incurred by either party and the funds are returned to your PayPal account same day.

You will need to pull them back across to your bank account manually, but at least the funds will be back in your hands fairly sharpish.

as far what the op is asking is does hi money return stright into his account
the answer should be yes but may take a few days to return though

yes you can also cancell the payment is the seller goes to the transaction on his pay pal account go to the bottom is says issue refund once clicked it should go back to where the money come from

It will go into your bank account yeah, aslong as he refunds that payment from the debit card

it may take upto 5 working days though

Best way is ....DONT USE PAYPAL....they are worse than the scammers.

I lost £500 due to paypal and have never used them again yet they contact me regular asking why I havent made any transactions for a year, I always reply politely explaining and ask them to not contact me again as my account has been closed for a year and I consider this as spam, always get a slightly appologetic reply ......then the emails bombard me again.

Satans own company owned by ebay

@Dangermouse - Threaten them with a harassment complaint. A mate joined Fitness First a few months ago and put me down on an "interested" (Which I wasnt!) list so that he could get a free gift.

Fitness first then tried phoning me atleast 4 times a day and text me twice a day.. I answered the first few times and got ****ed off telling them no so I emailed them and told them that if Im not removed from their call list immediately Ill file a harassment complaint against them.. Finally got into their heads and they removed me.

Anyway, I digress.

Im not sure it will go back to his back account. I bought something off eBay a few months ago, I picked it up and the actual item was slightly different to what I bought (nothing major) so we agreed a 10% money back, I had paid with my debit card but the money went into my Paypal.

Without reading too much into it I would gamble the money will go into the paypal account.

Why do I think that ? simply because it will earn money for them while it sits there. Oh and I would guess they will not be in too much of a hurry for it to get there too.

Paypal will hang on to your money for as long as they possibly can for the flimsiest of excuses under the guise of protecting members.

I speak from experience trying to get an overpayment back due to a sellers mistake.

Just checked a partial refund for a credit card funded PayPal purchase in July. The CC statement has it dated as the same day as the refund was issued.

Credit cards and debit cards are two different things

If he paid via a debit card linked to his paypal account then any refund would go into his paypal account and will have to be transferred to his bank account manually

I had this issue, I paid by debit card for goods, then because of an issue agreed that he would cancel transaction, the returned funds went into paypal account then automatically back into current account, you shouldn't have to do anything, it did take 4 working days though.:)
