It's a Toyota :)

If you look close enough you can just make out the Tardis.

It's the Starship Enterprise. You can clearly see the saucer section and the port navigation light on the edge of the saucer.

Space plod heading for the intergalactic donut sale.?

I'm with this guy:

Seriously, Gizmodo?

This is awesome and exciting news already, why the sensationalist speculation? Nobody's seriously suggesting it looks like a spaceship except you. The asteroid is not 'X' shaped, some of the thicker/higher albedo filaments of the tail appear to cross each other from our perspective, that's all.

Kudos for the final quote from NASA explaining what they believed happened here, but I'm baffled as to why you tell your readers what they think it is only to follow it with "In other words: They have no clue". That's blatantly wrong, and you quoted why just one line above!

This is a really exciting scientific discovery, why not report on what the scientists are actually saying? This comes off like it's being suggested as the Screenplay for "Armageddon 2".

Way to make yourselves look unprofessional and idiotic....

Conspiricists are everywhere .... :p
