My phone upgrade is 3 months away, (yes I know I'm early), but after a long think about this, it has come down to 2 Android Phones the HTC Desire HD or the Samsung Galaxy S,
I've ruled out the iPhone due to the lack of flash support on the web browser, what an oversight from Apple, shameful :shake:
I'm also not going with Symbian/Nokia again after the problems that the N97 gave me.

So Android it is, the question is which one?...... mmm decisions decisions

if anyone here uses any of these handsets, feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks.

:)

There'll be something new by then ;)

Right now I'd be waiting for the Nexus S

I have a Galaxy S 16Gb and it is definitly a very good phone - music quality is excellent with decent headphones and it just works really well. However be warned on the samsung you may need to run a lag fix due to a design flaw - most people simply don't notice the issue but it is definitly present.

Putting the desire next to the desire HD there is a big dfference in size. I feel the Desire is a better size ergonomically however when browsing the web, showing images etc etc, the larger screen of the Desire HD is nicer and makes a difference to the experience - that and the larger memory!

I own a Desire though and love it. A fantastic device (I'm lucky though that I get a really good discount as I work in the mopbile communication arena).

The girlfriend is due a replacement at the end of January so will look at the options but I would certainly consider the Desire HD although maybe too big for a woman's hands (she can have my desire) :)

Galaxy S is an awesome phone - If I wasn't an apple maniac I'd be using that. Speedy, great LCD, good battery life, definitely the best Android, my uncle much prefers it to his Desire HD. Just given it my grandam - she was coming from an LG Cooke!

Cheers for the info peeps , by the time my upgrade comes around, the Samsung Galaxy-S 2 should be released, so fingers crossed :D

I have the desire hd and it is an absolutely amazing phone. I honestly can say I can't think of any thing bad about it.

I thought it might be a but big but it really isn't. I had a htc hero before this and that feels so small now lol.

My son's got the Galxy, I've got an HD desire and we're about to spend time together so maybe in a weeks' time?

I went by this review among others:

Size isn't an issue for me: it mostly goes in my desk or a jacket pocket. I can chomp through a battery in a working day though and given that I can't plug it into my employer's computer I've bought a couple of batteries and a charger. I have a friend with an earlier HTC and he seems to covet the Desire HD.

Previously I had a Palm OS Treo for 6 years: there are still aspects of that phone and its apps which I miss.

I've had the Desire HD for a couple of months. It's larger size is great for browsing the web etc. Only downside is battery consumption can be high, but it's not a problem for me as I always have a charger handy, mains or car.
Try and handle the various phones in a local shop if you can. I found the Samsung Galaxy felt cheap and plasticky in comparison and forget the Galaxy S if you need gps/satnav. It doesn't work. See xda developers.

I have the HTC Desire Z..
Wife has the HTC Desire..
Son has the Samsung Galaxy S..

All are awesome phones. Personally found the HTC HD a bit too big and a battery drinker too.

love my Desire HD... battery life seems to have got better as it gets older. I got rid of various iphones for it, and really dont regret it.

Battery lasts a couple of days with the fast boot off and bluetooth off, wireless and sync on constantly.

lol a couple of days .... I think mine would do around 40hours ...

but what I have noticed is that once I switch usb debugging on it tends to last longer on one charge :) without it battery was going down like crazy....but with it slowly as it should :)

and it is not too big! maybe thats the first impression, but after a while you see it is perfect size :) would not change it to any other mobile :) ok,maybe for nexus S ;)
