Hey up guyz n galz newbie here from barnsley (SY) that just cant make my mind up on which camera to buy..

:bang: im torn between getting the Nikon D5100 or Canon 600D over the past 3 months ive done as much homework as i poss can like looking at reviews on utube going into the shops & getting a hands on feel for them both but still undecided on which will be better for me...

looking at the reviews the nikon ticks all of the right boxes yet no matter where you go on the net more peeps seem to use canon.. even just reading the welcome section on here it seems like there's more new canon members than nikon..

the canon feels a better size in my hands than the nikon but then the nikon feels a better quality camera than the canon in the hand... do i go with the feel or with the better review.. looking on flicker they both seem to take very good photos which is the main reason for getting it but i will be using it the odd time for doing video clips with...

:shrug: so the question is what do i go for.?

Hi neil and welcome to TP. As far as which camera to choose just feel the force TBH it will not make a blind bit of difference which one you go for as both will have their good and bad points way beyond how they look and feel. Do not worry over which one just toss a coin

I went for the 550D almost a year ago when faced with a similar situation to you and honestly, after nearly 15,000 shots, I don't regret my decision!

in the end i decided to go with the canon 600d just been & fetched it now hope i dont live to regret it...

Hello from another Yorkshireman, originally from Sheffield but living just outside now. I faced same dilemma as you other year and went Nikon. As someone told me recently, it doesn't matter which you choose, the equipment will be better than you are for quite some time.
