hows this effect done please ?

I am not sure how it is done - it looks as though it has been desaturated and then the colours selectively brightened but I am probably totally wrong so, I will be very interested to read any response you might get. I really like the processing in the second photo. :-)

I'd say it's two different processes, the top one looks like some of the image has been desaturated, while the bottom one looks more like a cross process.

Impossible to say with accuracy, but you could try:

Duplicate background, convert dupe to mono, reduce opacity of mono layer. But I suspect there's more to it than that.

Playing with the colour channels in Levels may be worth a go as well.

Difficult to say.

Both have selective saturation adjustments
#1 has a slight warm/yellow tint but not to the whites
#2 has a warm white balance overall

There may be some colour adjustments done that aren't obvious, and I would suspect that both are less saturated than originally shot, with the possible exception of the red channel in #1.

How all of this was done is impossible to say as there are probably many ways in any piece of software you choose. Either could, in theory, be a pre-set filter.

The first one I think is produced by applying an " Old Film" or cross processing filter effect to a duplicate image on a layer, possibly with a bit of de- saturation added for luck. The "Pop" Colours are then produced by applying a mask and allowing the underlying full colours to be brought back in those areas, plus a good bit of saturation added to them.

The second looks like a similar filter effect without the masking.
