Hi All,
Im new here so just thought I would drop by and introduce myself. The name is Ian (lemonsprig) and I am a relative new comer to the world of photography. I have been interested in it for many years, but have never really gotten much beyond 'interested' despite buying cameras over the years.
My recent uptake is due to a recent holiday to cuba, where I am sad to say I did not get one decent picture, not that it actually came off Auto. I am not going to blame the tool, but I have since changed it to a SX40 HS, totally on the grounds of I got tired of carrying two lenses and the D70 I had previously was heavy and bulky compared to the SX.
But that said, I am off on for me a probably once in a lifetime trip to vegas in 3 weeks, sooo, im desperately trying to learn how to use the SX40 in time to get some amazing shots while I am there.. Any experts shout. I am really struggling at the moment

I'm a little jealous at your upcoming trip to vegas, I hope that you can get to grips with your camera 
check out the talk basics section and post a few questions, the best advice that I can give you is to get out there and practice you can read it all on here and there are plenty that will be happy to help but thats no substitution to getting out there and having a play
