Its been a while since I signed up but I've only just got around to starting to post here, I have a renewed interest in my camera and rather than just let it sit in its nice case I thought I'd use it.

About a year ago I bought a 300d off a member here on a whim, I'd had a Fuji bridge which I liked but felt ready for a big boys camera with bits I could take off and put back on again and spend money on. Since then I've used it a bit but not enough, acquired some tube like things with little windows in that go in the front (one of them is white) and taken the whole shebang on day trips to places and sometimes taken some pics; which one the whole have been badly composed, unconsidered rubbish, usually I forget to change the ISO to something usable and forget to put on/ take off the poloriser. So basically my pics have been poor and every time this happens I look at them and don't pick the camera up again for weeks.

This year I've decided I want to take pictures, not snaps and learn how to use what I've got, which is; 300d, 200mm L f4, 50mm f1.8, 18-55mm f5-5.6 (soon (like tomorrow) to be replaced with a Sigma 17-70mm f2.8 DC Macro)

I already know a few people who post here (kitten, betty, petemc) via another (non-tog) forum and they've been inspiring me with their pictures so that was another good reason to start using my kit.

We're off to Iceland in a couple of week hence to upgrade to the 17-70 and I want to get familiar with my camera and how to get the best out of it and what I'm reading here is helping a lot! I look forward to your continued help :)

Sometime this year I'm thinking of going on a weekend course with a proper photographer as I tend to learn better through doing than reading.

I had the audacity (and balls) to post one of my pics from last year here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=109229, its probably my favorite picture I've taken with the 300d and I'd be happy to hear what people think of it.

Thanks again
