So how would you feel?

Took some photographs of flowers 2 weeks ago, nothing spectacular, but nice and sharp and was very pleased with them.

Went into Edinburgh the next day to goto the Fringe, took loads of pics and everyone of them came out very poorly focused, tried manual aswell as auto focus, made no difference what so ever.

Always very carefull with my camera and kit, as its been my pride and joy since it was bought.

Always took it with me, no matter where I was going, much to the annoyance of the other half lol.

So camera has been sent away this afternoon to be repaired, no idea how much it will cost or when I'll get it back.

Been cameraless (is that even a word!) since early afternoon and feeling lost without it, yeah that might sound sad:'(, not as if I make any money out of my photography, not the best in the world at it, but just love going places and capturing the moment.

Its quite guff knowing I'll be without my camera for a few weeks and an expensive bill before I can get back to doing some that I really enjoy.

How would you feel if you suddenly had no camera for a few weeks?

Forgetful........

It would mean that I'd misplaced the other half dozen or so round the house!!

If you miss your 550D that much you could borrow mine! You're not getting a lens with it though!!!;)

Oooh that's not good. I might have to turn to drinking to find something that my right arms for. Seriously that is bad news, I hope it doesn't take long to be sorted and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I've got a backup body and the wife's 650D to go through before I'd be cameraless but I do know how you feel.

... and gutted that the other half dozen film cameras stashed at the office had been stolen

Besides, there's always the iPhone to take pictures with. ;)

I take it you aint got house insurance either like me, I cant afford to pay for that, the joys of low wages these day s I suppose, but getting burgled, that would really freak me out!!!!

I look after my camera as much as I can, but to have it stolen in a burgulary( how many times did I look at your spelling of that, thats one of these words that I struggle to say, I just get get tongue tied and say robbed ) must be gut wrenching!

Dont see my kids due to ex being nasty person, so understand how you feel about missing that special day.

I'd probably be on edge, knowing that something monumental was about to happen around me that I couldn't take a picture of.

It happens now anyway. If I take a black and white loaded camera out with me, I'll come across something unexpected that's wonderfully colourfull.
If I only take a wide angle, I'll see something great that's 100m away.

Annoyed, and upset as it would kill my POTD challenge, as DSLRs are the only cameras I have, I'm lucky I do have a back up camera body and back ups of lens etc so I'm sort of safe

It wouldn't matter. I don't earn a living with my camera, and I don't get very stressed out about things that are really just a nuisance.

Not the same but I had to sell all my canon kit MK3 & 2, L's etc due to financial difficulties.

Now I have a Minolta 5000AF which I got for free. IT's been good for keeping going but I am so missing digital and the instant results. Plus were too skint to let me afford any decent minolta lens. That has been about a year now and I am so not coping with having nothing of real quality.

Needs must but take comfort that in the coming cameraless weeks you will look for things to photograph and go back to get the shot once your camera is back. You will appreciate it even more than you do now!

Reading this i can't help but ask
How do you know its a problem with your camera/lens?
Im guessing you ran some tests before sending it away?

I have fits and starts with photography so a few weeks would probably not hurt although as with most things you own you don't miss them till they are gone.

I took loads of test shots using manual and auto focus, also tried different lenses too. The test shots all came out showing very bad focusing, tried using a tape measure and focused on the number ten, nothing was in focus, near or far, just all blurry. Close up shots where just awfull and distance shots were like looking at things whilst drunk

Just hope to get it back sooner rather than later and hopefully not an expensive repair!

I would be very disappointed that my camera had gone duff. But if I were missing it to much. I would hire one.

Sorry to hear Keith, I guess it done it on more than one lens? Must be an issue with the actual sensor if even manual focus is blurred though.

Sad thing is I rarely use mine, last outing was at the start of the last month for the Fringe meet organised on here. I'd offer you mine but I know you'd turn your nose up at a :gag: Nikon :gag:!

When my 5D drowned I was destroyed, but finding out the insurance cover was 'like for like' I was over the moon they told me it was non-repairable - cheque please! :naughty: After upgrading to the 1D mk3 it made me rediscover photography and I loved it more than ever, that camera was a beast!

Although last Winter some kids keyed my car and I just decided to get rid of all my camera gear and spend it on the car in Spring. I bought a Canon compact but hardly used it.

Just after doing all that my Gran was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given <6mth to live. After that just sinking it, I was kicking myself I sold my gear, I could have taken some great photographs of her... :'(

I'm actually thinking of sending it in for a sensor clean as it is disgusting but I don't want to let it go, maybe that says something!

Not had one for two years - miss having the quick snaps of the kids but nothing else really

I was not able to use my camera for nearly a month due to an injury, I couldn't even hold it.

It drove me round the bend!
