Yes
I took this photo in Paris yesterday, and trying to think how best to edit it...

I came up with 2 processes, and asked my mates, and its about 50/50 for which people would prefer.

A few people said they preferred the city in number 2, and sky in number 1, so came up with

Just not sure what is taking my fancy with this picture.

Thoughts?

Have you tried a nice gritty black and white? Might look pretty cool.
I kinda like the mixture of the two as well.

I love the Gargoyle and Paris cityscape. I see what you mean about missing something though.

I have a feeling you've missed an additional opportunity of choosing a different camera angle. If you had tried lowering the camera angle and moving fractionally to the left to make the horizon lower, and the gargoyle appear to be towering over the Eiffel tower in the bg; you would have got a clear shot of the gargoyle head against the sky, looking like it could possibly eat the Eiffel tower! :)

Sorry I have a slight tendancy to go over the top...hope you don't mind :)....The gargoyle could do with some more work, but was only a 5 min job..(

OK not too adventurous, but I had to have a go.

Maybe just me but I think you kind of lose the gargoyle's head amongst the background buildings.

If you had lowered your camera slightly to place the gargoyle* against the sky instead..?

Anyway just my 2p interjection! Feel free to ignore me!

[* its actually a grotesque, gargoyles drain water. Too much QI watching!]

Maybe he's gone back.. Anyway, I started off seriously with dodge, burn & tint the gargoyl but, well, degenerated.

I think you're right about the head against the sky but not necessarily about the grotesque. A gargoyle can also be a discrete grotesque sculpture. See Oxford English. :)

Still a nice photo though IMHO.

Come on then, how do you do the lightning? Pretty please.

If your doing that you might as well make some rain while your at it :)

Haha. I feel we're missing some fog and snow......

Thanks for the replies, sorry about late reply... and love a lot of the edits and given me some more inspiration...

I agree with the angle change... ah, hindsight ;) but if i remember, it was a little difficult to get that angle due to a wall and wire fence... but if anyone happens to be up the top of notre dame, please confirm either way :)

I much prefer your alternative one above. I know you don't see all the gargoyle's features, but i love that it leads you to the tower. The horizon line is in a much better spot too. :)
