put my copyright symbol over images?

i use gimp... and id like my signature accross the middle - which is fine, i can do... however i want it faded not pure white in your face...

so using gimp2 and (please explain easily....) how??

If you are adding it as text move the opacity slider for the text layer to the left and the lettering will become transparent.

Windows > dockable dialogues > layers

That should bring up the Layers dialogue with the slider.
