How to stop filters sticking on?

Every time I use my polarizer filter on my hi-tech filter holder it gets stuck. Takes a while to get the filter back off using a damp cloth to grip the edge so I can unscrew it.

Is there anything I can put on the filter threads to stop this?

I've used a soft pencil, just run it around the thread....and don't screw it on too tight, like I used to do :)

Cheers.

Cheers will give the soft pencil a go. I only tend to do it up lightly but i think as I use it, it tends to do itself up more

Mine did that once, two years ago, brand new polariser, in the end I had to destroy the filter to get it off, couldn't believe how tight it was, I thought I had knocked it without knowing, you have just confirmed it wasnt a knock. Will take precautions in future, and yes the graphite pencil trick would help..Thankyou posiview.

This is purely speculation, but since a filter is low mass compared to the lens, it is possible that it expands slightly due to the heat of your hand, then as it cools to the lens temperature contracts and thus grips more tightly

The polarizer is on my filter holder, Hitech 85mm filter system, both are metal so it is possible it's to do with the heat.
