I recently did an un-official weeding shoot for some family friends & have
printed some pics for them.

I do not want anything in return but for future 'hopefully' shoots, what is
the best way to put copyright details on the reverse of the pics to hopefully
avoid them being taken down to the local Boots/Kodak shop & being re-printed?

I havent tried running them through the printer as i dont want to risk damaging the paper.

Would a normal ink stamp do the job or is there another method?

Thanks in advance.

I use a sticky label printed with all of my contact information on mine. I have also started to include the photo details so that I can find it easily if I am asked for reprints at any time.

You can get clear Avery stickers and print onto them. Can be quite time consuming to peel and stick, but may help.

i to have clear labels that have been stuck on with details on the back

Never thought of sticky labels :bang:

Im guessing that a decent printer would be alerted to copyright theft
if presented with pictures that had sticky label removal damage on them?

ink doesn't still well to the back of photo paper as anyone who will have accidentally loaded paper in their printer the wrong way round will testify.

Suggest the sticky label idea is best.

Is that like euthanasia? :naughty:

Seriously though, I doubt putting a label on the back will stop the likes of Boots reprinting the pics, all the person would need to say is that they are (or work for) you and need the prints in a hurry or your printer has broken or something like that.....

Have a look in Lidl - they often have DIY rubber stamp kits. I include my phone number, a copyright notice and the image reference number. It MIGHT stop some places doing copies but don't bet on it - and a home scanner will ignore it anyway.

You'd be suprised - I was chatting to a fellow event tog the other week who had been doing events for a while and has always put sticky labels on the back. They said that they quite often get calls from high street stores asking if they can copy the photo.

I'm not saying that it will work 100% of the time but even it it works 50% it's still better than not doing it IMO.

The problem with photographic paper is that it uses a resin coated paper base. Normal water based inks just aren't absorbed into it. So they smudge and rub off. Unfortunately sometimes onto the print underneath them. You need a spirit based ink if you are going to "Stamp" onto them. That in it self leads to problems, not least of all finding a suitable ink.

Sticky labels with an "aggressive" adhesive may be the answer. Here again is a problem in that the base of Photo paper acts like the silicon release paper that many of these labels are supplied on

Can i ask where you got them from? I got some labels but i'm not really happy with the size of them.
