Yes
I want to photograph an eye, but am not sure how to go about it.
I reckon that a fast shutter would be required to cater for camera or subject movement. ISO 100 would be ideal as I want a nice clean image.

Should I use flash (430 EX)?

Basically, how should I set the shot up?

If you want to blind your subject yes

LOL, yes that's the concern. Obviously not going to fire the flash straight into the subject's eye. But the problem is going to be getting enough light into the eye area to allow for ISO100 & fast shutter.

Any eye dears? :bonk:

600w Lencarta ring flash

Seriously though, they use a flash at Specsavers when I go in for my check up :)

Do you have a macro lens?

The trouble with flash is the reflection - but you need the light for the small aperture.

Yes that's to see if you've got Glaucoma, basically they shoot thro your eyeball on to the retina or something like that LOL

WOW, what size is that shot at? 5:1 or even more?? thats amazing!

Basically, G11, onboard flash, camera balanced on toilet roll on bedside cabinet.

1/60th, F4.5, ISO 100, red eye flash camera 37cm from eye on 140mm setting

For best results though I would have the subject face a window and use natural light with the camera set on a tripod in front of the subject and use a remote release.
