I'm not quite pro yet, but have had a few images in this weeks mags. I send my pictures to a picture agency that specialises in the subject matter I deal with. They have also recently started to give me jobs/assigments to do. I've had 2 today, but I don't get in til 12:30am (night) and finish sorting and uploading them normaly by 2:30am. If I was to get a real corker, I'd probably by-pass them and sell it myself.
A fellow photographer told me that if yo want to make good money, photograph weddings, personaly I'd find them boring and worrying, just incase it all went horribly wrong. I was given a subject to photograph a few nights ago and didn't. However I got a better one instead, so they wern't to bothered.

Hi natjags - what mags have you been published in? Interested to see/read about this.

As for making money - there's big money to be made in 'event' photography - though this is somewhat expensive if you are needed to print off images on location as a dye printer would be needed I guess.

I am trying to build up a portfolio of different types of images, to see (1) what I am bad at and (2) to see if there's an amateur market in that area.

Interested in this thread too, to find out what others do and how they do it.

Hi MusicMan,
Would you believe I'm also a muso by trade. I was working with Rick Wakeman a few weeks ago. I just remember your u tube post on him.
This week I've had pictures published in Heat and New. They are of Ziggy and Amy from Big Brother. I've had other published, But I've not seen them to know which ones yet. I'll just have to wait for my sales report to see which ones.

Wehey, that's fantastic. I had the pleasure to meet Rick several years ago when he did a local concert and after he'd finished said.... "see you in the bar after I've had a shower" - and he did just that. Top class guy, and a superb keyboard player.

Great to read that you are working with him. Were you at any of his and Jon's recent acoustic set concerts...?

MM, I've only seen Rick twice. The first time begining of the year. I was working with Jet Harris then. Then He booked the band I was playing with to perform at his Charity Golf banquet. So saw him there as well. The first time he had hired in a grand piano to play one tune (elenor rigby) which was just out of this world. Then we went on and had to follow him,. . . not easy, but we managed it.
