How to Increase the Performance of Your Canon Kit Lens

Bwa ha ha ha ha! I'd love to know the responses to people that have actually done this.

I bet I could make a fortune if I made up a kit, got a booth at Focus and tried flogging them...

This is the best:

Why dont you just paint a Micky Mouse on it and shoot.. Its will show you the animated version too..

This link within the comments is amazing, thats one whole load of effort

Had a good laugh, thanks for the linky

I liked the comment "it's easier just to put a Nikon sticker over the Canon one"

It's a pity I've not got Canon gear, as I feel I'm missing out :(

Will putting a gold line on Nikon lenses have the same effect?

There's always a 50mm f1.8 L if you want to get away from the kit lens :D

Sorry Dave, My clicky is within the comments of your clicky and just looking at the pictures on my clicky made me make the statement, sorry if it wasn't clear, or are you using reverse psychology here to make our own comments like the ones on your clicky :suspect:

ha ha funny thread, love it

A red elastic band would be even quicker, and easier to remove when the "novelty" wore off...

All it needs is one of those little gold stickers - "As used by Uncle Bob";)

This is why all Nikkor lenses repel red paint. It's completely true, Ken Rockwell told me last Thursday when he came over for tea.

 I'm going to start collecting the rubber bands the posties keep dropping.

I like it, nice link.

It does hold an interesting idea, that if you think your lens is good you will think your pictures are better.

Give people the same pictures taken buy different equipment of varying price ranges, most won't be able to put the picture to the correct equipment.

Very funny, i wonder how much picture improvement you'd get if you tried blue or green.

If I spray my one L lens black then how much IQ will I lose? TIA ;)

Green is Canon's range of Diffractive Optics lenses,

I've only seen blues rings on Olympus lenses.

Brilliant idea that and just goes to show what difference a red ring can make, I would put that on ebay, someone would pay good money for that mod!!!

Whilst you have the masking tape out another great mod would be to convert it into the macro version, all you need do is tape a magnifying glass to the front element, or if you pop to halfords you could pick up some of that cheap window tint film and make yourself a nice filter to help control glare.
