Despite everyhting I have done.. even a notice on my website about not doing wedding... I have been roped into doing one for a mate in late october..

So.. How do I get out of it... I am thinking break em up somehow? no wedding = no photographer :)

Any other suggestions...

Breaking them up is always an option I suppose. :D

Just say "there's a reason I don't list weddings on my business site. I don't shoot them. I hate them, the images will probably be crap because it's not something I enjoy shooting".

If he's a mate he should understand.

I already did all that and already have this on my website http://www.kipax.com/weddings.php but somehow still got dragged into it... now how do I get out of it?

You could give him your daily rate quote. Tell him you'll either come as a guest or as the photographer, but not as both. :)

Just mention that your pre wedding routin includes his bride to be, a king sized bed and some chocolate sauce...all in the name of art ofcourse.

Outsource to Squashed Apple.......

Could always remind them of what you've said but if they insist tell them you'll need a lot of equipment specific to wedding photography and do they mind buying it as you'll never use it again. Then give them a list of 5D mkii, fast primes, a rack of 580ex and pocket wizards to fire them. That may make them have a rethink

Point is..I already said I will do it despite all my best efforts not to do weddings... how do I now go back on it.. ? must be somehting that doesnt include a gun :)

although swordjo has an idea.. if I go and say... by the way..... :)

Tell them you have developed a new style for your photography

"Porno" that should do it.

Makes the after ceremony shoot that little bit more personal:)

4 weeks before the wedding...

*ring ring*

"Hello?"

"You'll never guess what mate? The shutter's completely packed in on my camera, and my backup body. I've sent them off to Canon, but you know what those slackers are like. It's gonna be about 6 weeks before I get 'em back".

Find a wedding, take some really, really bad pictures and proudly show them your wedding portfolio explaining that somehow your weddings never come out quite as well as the sports pictures you take

I like this .. I dunno if its far fetched or a brilliant idea :)

something like the following: "I know that you'd like me to take the photos of your day, but I would worry that I don't necessarily have the skills or equipment to record it best - I'd love to take candid photos throughout the day, or maybe we could do a pre-wedding shoot some time, or a cool shoot with the dress after the wedding. This will let me help you record the day, while not having the stress of having to produce perfect results of every single shot, and I'd love to give you a photobook of these as a wedding gift, but to reduce the stress for the both of us, and ensure that you have the best possible memories of your day, could I maybe help you choose a professional to take the main 'normal' wedding photos?'

haha get it done you soft jessie, you might even like the cake afterwards!!:lol::lol:

If it was me I would just be very honest and say you agreed to do the wedding but realistically your not the right guy for the job and refer him to a mate who is who is a wedding togger?

The last thing you want is to leave him with such short notice that he cant find anyone decent.

Whats the worst that can happen... you wont get invited and then you defo wont shoot the wedding lol

Hire a pro-wedding photographer, as a wedding gift from you to them

Of course, shagging the bride is always game, irrespective of whomever does the shooting.

There's only one real answer to this conundrum. Don't say yes in the first place.

I have been asked to do this, and my excuse for basically slacking off was to say that I did not feel comfortable doing something for a mate and that if something went wrong, they would never let it go etc et etc

Break your phone and never answer it. Do the bride/groom/father of the bride. Smash your camera*

Please don't, give it to me

Just what I was thinking Nigel, equal ops and all that ;)

If you want to borrow a 24-70 let me know.

and watch out for guns

Just add in 'on your most important day' and that's perfect.

If you've given your word to do it, get on with it and stop whinging:) You'll think twice in future before agreeing to something:lol:

Beat me to it Yv

Say you've tripped on the stairs and broken your right index finger. Turn up with that finger bandaged straight and attached to your middle finger and there's no chance you could press a shutter and hold the camera steady.
