thank you

Hi Iron, to start with you need to make sure you have the correct raw plugin for your camera. Chances are though as far as I know if it is a fairly modern camera then CS3 will not support it. Do you have any software that came with your camera?

and just got the basic cd with the camera,

i might need to download a plugin i think

Take a look at the sticky at the top of the forum. 7D raw files need CS4 or later.

Your only option is to convert to DNG format (Adobes RAW format) and edit from there (or buy CS4....)

I think it usually goes through Adobe camera raw which won't support your camera as yours is new so you either have to get CS5 or possibly look at Photoshop Elements 10. I'm sure it might be best to edit the raws in DPP (the CD which came with your camera) and do basic sharpening etc then save it to TIFF and edit it in Photoshop which should work but obviously a bit of hassle having to use two programs which means a less productive workflow.

You can check out any of my Pics Iron, what you think of them is up to you  But I always use Canon`s DPP for the RAW edit and then finish off in CS.

your photos are great rich
how to you get your bird photos so clear and sharp

Too kind Iron, but the answer to your question was listening to what other more experienced people on TP were telling me.
