A grid is like a bunch of tiny snoots that forces the light into a controlled beam.
They're usually described based on the beam spread they produce e.g. 40degree, 20degree, 10deg etc.
What you could have done is had a gridded light at the left giving you a 20 degree beam to play with, pointed it at the side of the van, then moved it up until you get no spill onto the floor. You'd throw more light over the top of the van, but it's not illuminating anything so just let it flow over...
It's a bit like a cheap spot light giving you a very directional light.
just a suggestion, and I know that you're showing off the ambulance, but what could add some real drama and life to the image would be the kind of blur of the high vis jacket and stretcher of a paramedic going into (or coming out of) the back? Done well, possibly with a tiny touch of rear sync flash, could look awesome.
Cheers, it would be a good shot but this one was a specific request from the customer.
Yea there are some awsome places to shoot on the site, very lucky as I am the only person who has the permission to do it on the site. So it's a nice portfolio filler!
Hahaha........well I have a meeting on Tuesday with the bosses to quiz their brains and sort out the terms on the use of images and details I can give out. I could probably give out the site but no details of specific areas.
Security is top notch, slip me a few quid and will get you in on my night shift ;-) haha
Would be fun for me as I would get to watch armed respond turn out if they actually got on lol don't want another repeat where that guys lens looked like a RPG!
