Yes
Getting a bit of dust inside now, just wondering if anyone has a link or can describe a way to get inside to flick the dust off?

Cheers

wouldn't you just risk getting even more dust inside it by opening it up?

Does it show up on pictures?

I have hear people cleaning the inside before, so I assume it must be ok?

Not that I can notice, but i am worried it might start to show up on some client pics , it's no big deal for my personal ones but client ones I would rather not take the risk.

I never heard of people cleaning inside a lens themselves.... happy if they ahve.. but never ehard of it..

Vacuum cleaner seems to be the favourite way. Google vacuum clean lens.

Plenty of people take it upon themselves to clean Canon's dust pump.

I used to have a good site but have forgotten as now shoot with a superior brand;):D

Try here and here

It's quite easy as per DR O's links, I've done it once before just be careful when you plop the front element glass out and in again :)
Also the front ring is stuck on so have somewhere ready out of the way to put it so a) you don't put it face down stuck to your desk or b) cover the sticky bit in dust making it less sticky :)

Wow I thought u were joking lol

mmmmmm, not sure re the silicone though

I have heard putting a good filter on the front of this lens does help to reduce / stop dust ingress

Unless the dust is causing a major problem with IQ (which I doubt), leave it alone and don't worry.
The 17-55 and 100-400L are know for collecting some internal dust but I've yet to hear anyone suffering for IQ problems.

Have you noticed it in an photos?

My god I though you were joking

Cleaning 17-55 is a doddle, you just need a bit of confidence and follow the guide linked above. Just be careful to put the front lens group back in exactly the same position - mark it before you remove the screws. It rotates on the front cam for calibration.
