Takes me back that does. How long did it take from start to finish.

Thanks guys!

It took about a week or so from start to finish, doing it in my spare time.

It was done a couple of years ago in truth. My wife, and my photography, now takes up my spare time...

Mind you, I have commenced build on a 1:2 scale New Series Dalek!

Here's a shot from the TV series on which my Dalek was based:

Thanks - it did take a while to take shape but I got there in the end...

I really hope that object of beauty is nailed to the ground, that'll be swiped by some thieving git before you can finish saying sonic screwdriver!
What a great project with a superb result!
Does it light up, though? :D

That is so cool. Great job, and it beats the hell out of garden gnomes ;)

I saw a life size replica at MPH/Top Gear Live show today on one of the trade stands. Only £6,000.00. I think my youngest son would want one, perhaps I'll have to make him one. I'm sure my wife will be impressed with something else to clutter up his room.

I know the bloke who put bigger wheels in the Dalek to enable them to be used outdoors or on rough surfaces.

I also saw a Dalek at a motorshow that was built using Mini drivetrain, in the same way the Outspan Orange cars were made. :D

Isn't making things satisfying and wow, that's an achievement. Bet you're a wee bit proud of yourself

Not the same but I worked on my allotment in freezing, bleak conditions for hours the last two days I was off and took ten bags of waste to the tip. I thought I was a nutter at the time but was a wee bit proud of myself for persevering (not that anyone really wanted to know that:))

I built an alien model...the one from Alien 3. Granted it was a kit, but it was fab I built and painted it with such care.
I still have it but it's never made it out of the box since the last house move :(
I'm thinking now that I should dig it out.

A good friend of the family was a Dalek driver in the original series. When I was about 8 he got my sister and I a signed photo of K-9!

Apparently with the original Daleks the light when they spoke was operated by the driver, but the voice came from off-stage. The driver had very limited hearing inside the Dalek and trying to get the light and the voice even vaguely in synch was tough.

It can be done on a smaller scale using your printer, a pair of scissors or a craft knife and some glue...

...you can also bucket fill the template in the paint package of your choice and not bother painting. A fun way to spend some time with the kids.

Ultimate Dalek

I didn't see this first time around.

Fantasic Martin - well done (y)

I say do it!
I'm a shoe in lol

I spy the Dalek Builders Workshop Manual. Did the Beeb managed to get it banned?

Currently have a professionally built ½ scale movie prop one, an unfinished scratch built timber one from plans in the same manual, and a set of fibreglass full sized moulds, ready to create an invasion of Daleks, plus head dome, 'light/ears', plunger thingy, complete set of hemispheres, wheels, motor, and other bits that I gathered as a project about ten years ago. All stuck many many many light years away.....they might as well be in Galiphray.

The Daleks scared the hell out of me back in Hartnell's day.

 I was always rooting for the Daleks to win.
Although before the age of two, my parents had wrapped my baby walker in foil, stuck a sieve on my head and taught me to wheel around saying "EXTERMINAAAAATTTE!!!"

(I think I've shared that before, but clearly I'm still traumatised by the experience)

I missed this the first time too, that pretty cool

I have a few ideas for that, so if you don't I will :D

Almost certainly NSFW...

Thanks again for the comments. :D

Excellent. Back in the early 1970s I had a BBC magazine with a Dr Who special feature which included full plans to make a full size Dalek.

I was only about six at the time and my building skills weren't what they are now!

I would love another copy to try it again.

Steve.

If you can't download them I have the plans. PM me your email address and I'll send them on.
