Hi

I want to block a few ip addresses from being able to access my wordpress site and wanted to ask how best to do this? I've tried adding them in my cpanel area where there is an ip address blocker as well as using the wordfence plugin, but the hits still occur (according to analytics) from these annoying spam referral sites.

Any help appreciated!

It depends a bit on where you are looking for the reports on what is hitting your website...Are you looking at the boundary firewall? Are you looking at the Intrusion Detection/Protection System devices? Are you looking at the Web Server? Are you looking at Wordpress?

I mean the point is, in order for it to block, it will still have to 'hit' somewhere. Just getting a hit doesn't have to be a bad thing, heck even if you block at the boundary firewall you will still get hits on that firewall...It is just the normal noise...

And even with boliston's, whilst valid point to drop the connections, they are still hits ;)

It is nothing to be too bothered about, heck if you are bothered about that you should look into how many ssh attempts there will be to connect to your server...It is hilarious....Especially if you are on those cheap share hosting platforms....The background noise is quite astonishing...
