how to add borders?

Hi All,
*
I am trying to create an ‘action’ in Photoshop to add a border in 3 stages.
*
10px of black followed by 5px of white followed by a further 10px if black.

When doing this individually, I usually use the “canvass size” option and just do it in three stages. However, when I try and setup an action, it sets the canvass to exactly that size every time, which is not what I want…
*
Example: One image is 800 x 454 (because of the way it’s been cropped from the original, I then resize to proportion the largest size to 800) and the other image is 800x600.
If I apply the action to the 800x600 one, it resizes to the canvass used on the 800x454 image.
*
Any ideas how to create an action that just adds the border to those specific dimensions? (in the three stages of black/white/black format).
*
Thanks,
Amnesia

If I understand you correctly... Try using the "relative" check box, which will let you add a border of however many px you choose round the whole image, regardless of the size. It doesn't work on the image size that way, it just adds xx amount of pixels all round the edge :)

Thanks! Has helped a lot :)

Never knew about the relative option before - thats great! Thanks folks!!!
