I have a scene which I am trying to process which is made up of three portrait images, and for each image I have bracketed 5 shots.

My thought is that I need to stich each exposure set first and then merge to hdr the resultant panoramas. To do it the other way round could result in stitching together three hdr images with slightly different exposures i think.

Three problem that I am having is that the output of each panorama is coming out at slightly different dimensions and the hdr process cannot be done.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get around this?

When I've done this in the past, using LR I've merged into HDR first (with auto settings switched off) and then stitched into pano, works fine.

However, I seem to recall seeing that in the most recent updates LR can do it all in one step?

Stitch the exposure sets then align manually. You can add a pair of crossed lines at a significant feature and change layer opacity to let you do this. Then either crop to a common size then hdr or exposure blend.
