Hi Matt you have started by asking here, my site was to be brutally honest "rubbish" untill the TP peeps helped me out and now its quite a nice looking site

Hi matt

whats QiQ? To create a website you can go many ways. You need some hosting space to link your domain name to or you forward your domain name to an internet web package such as one from www.moonfruit.com

stew

Yeah, a tenner for a name and year sunsricption after a discount code off Bod (TP member)

mine cost me £2.99 for my .com name and 2 .co.uk names for a year and then £2.99+vat a month to host the website with 10 pages and a photo gallery but now I have upgraded to the pro and get unlimited pages for £8.99+vat p/m and its a very easy creating tool to learn if this could help you could simply host a wesite here and transfer your domain name

yeah I could but then that would be a waste of £10. I am awaiting an email of Bod to see if he can help. Was just wondering if anyone else could.

Does the site have a website creator or have you got to submit a site

Who is your internet provider?
quite often they give you a certain amount of free web space.

Who did you register your domain name with? All .co.uk domains are also automatically registered with Nominet. Have you got free/or paid for web hosting?

More info is required...........

what type of site do you want?

just a gallery of your images?
a photo blog?
or a site, about your self, and selling images etc etc?

I registered everything with QiQ.

I have paid for web hosting :)

One to have as a gallery of my picutres that I can update easily :)

Matt I highly recommend trying Photium who I'm with. It is really easy to use, and you could easily transfer your domain to them. Not to mention there are heaps of people who use them, so plenty of help at hand. But really, the ease of use is the biggest +.

Matt - not being a user of QiQ its a bit tricky to give specific advice, but I'd guess you log into your control panel and start playing with the web builder

It looks like you can create pages and upload images from there.

im guessing you've got php and sql on it?

use something like gallery2 - easy to set up, and a nice and easy back end to set up galleries, and upload images

But what package have you paid for. They offer 3 different ones for hosting and this will determine what you need to do to upload a website. Do you have any knowledge of HTML or access to html editing software such as frontpage or dreamweaver etc. If you've paid for their basic package you'll need to build your own site using something like this and upload it to their servers via ftp. If it is one of their more advanced packages then they include a website builder which allows you to log in an build it all using one of their templates.

As I said, it is then a waste of a tenner :(

I will try that thank you!

Yeah I ahev and I have already downloaded that!

just use that, it'll be fine..

upload and install it
download a new layout for it, so it's how you like it,
start adding galleries, then images

Premium package!

That package doesn't include their website builder. You'll need to build it yourself/get someone else to do it for you and then upload via ftp.

They provide free software as part of all of their packages. They probably include an editor in amongst this. List up the software that can be downloaded and there will no doubt be someone who can help you work this bit out. In the meantime if you haven't had this for 30 days yet think about the 30 day money back guarantee until you get this all figured out as it sounds like you've approached this in the wrong order.

I am soooooo confused. Think I will see what Paul says and then decide on best action!!!!!!!!!

Might be worth taking a looking at Wordpress which is a very simple to use but powerful blog/content managed system which you can plug in all sorts in to including gallery2, etc. If you can use MSWord you can use Wordpress.

Hi Matt,

If you want any help, I'm off on the sick for the next two weeks, and can walk you through it on msn if you like.

Send me a pm if you like and I'll give you my msn addryess.

Tony

Dont have MSN sorry. Surrealillusions is helping me anyway. THank yo for the offer. Willl PM you if i ever come stuck :)

Sorry Matt, not been online much today.
Have sent some instructions to help you get started uploading files with ftp, and how to install Gallery. Sounds scary but it's all pretty straightforward.

If you don't have time but have about £50 to spare.

Buy a template, host and put in photos in template. Done :p
