Hi all,
So I thought I was pretty savvy when it comes to being conned , seems I was wrong !
Back in June I saw a "special offer" on Facebook for a 1TB hard drive for £21.99, I thought it was too good to be true so I checked out website and reviews-all looked good,
it said they could supply cheap stuff if people were willing to wait a few weeks for delivery.
Got confirmation e-mails to say the order was being processed and then another one a few weeks later to say it was being shipped
I basically forgot all about it as time went on until I got my Capital One cc statement through, they took the £21.99 about six weeks after I placed the order then two days later took £499.99 !!
Capital one were really good and refunded me straight away but made my heart stop for a bit!
Needless to say I never got the HDD..........!

Good Grief - that was a nasty shock !!

Glad you ended up OK

Crumbs!

Such scammers & con artists can be oh so very skillfull............................glad to hear you managed to sort it but what about FB have you advised them and what are they going to do about stopping 'him' using their platform for criminal activity???

I'm glad you got your money back but you should have know it was a scam from the offset. Facebook is the last place I would look for a bargain and £21.99 for a 1TB hard drive just isn't possible.
Rule of thumb - if the likes of Amazon and ebuyer are not doing similar prices then it's a dead cert to be a scam.

Am I allowed to put the name of the company on here?

It was a company called Memory Mayhem. Certainly caused me mayhem

I note their store is on a sub domain of a "store" site (ecwid, whoever they are?)..........................I wonder if they know that their customer is abusing their domain and service???
