Have just had a lot of hassle clearing blocked heads on an epson 2880 printer. How often should I print to maintain it in pristine condition? Does it have to be colour or would black and white do?

Dealing with a similar issue on my Epson 7900, the tech on the phone said that I should print the nozzle check at least once a week, but better twice to keep everything moving smoothly. I thought it was a good recommendation. Hope this helps.

Thanks David. I used Magic Bullet to sort mine out. merv;)

I hardly print with my R2400 anymore and it normally takes 1 head clean.

I have had the R2880 printer since December 2011. I never switch it off as I was told that this can cause build up on the pad. If I am not printing photographs, I have a print sheet of various colours and words large and small that I put through the printer about every 2-3 weeks. Never had any problems. I only use genuine ink

Not switching it off won't do anything. There is no difference to a printer not being used when on or a printer being off. He heads are still just sitting there doing nothing.

If you just turn on the printer then turn it off once a week this will do a very small head clean and save your ink relative to a head clean.
If you live in a dry climate make a cover for your printer and keep a mug of water under the cover.
