How Not To Sell Your Gear

LOL

:D:D

Well, at least you can tell by the photo that it's 'lightly used' which is a (non) bloody good job :ROFLMAO:

When I see something like this I can't decide whether the seller has no knowledge of the item so doesn't know what a potential buyer needs to know, or the seller does not understand that a possible buyer does not know what they know.

The seller may know this is lens has a Canon mount, for example, but just hasn't thought to mention it.

I suspect in this case it is a lack of knowledge. To a non-photographer, it is just a lens.

Could have been worse. I've seen badly out of focus photos on Ebay and wondered, "Do you think this photo is going to help you sell that?"

In know exactly what you mean Dave. However, in this case I don't think it's lack of information in the ad that's going to hinder his sale :)

Whoooooooooossssshhhhhh, straight over the top.

If it does sell I hope the buyer gives it a good clean with a wire brush & dettol.

Or exactly how to sell your gear

Free advert on here and no doubt been noticed by lots of others too.

I remember a PYO place advertising "trawberries" on their roadside board, got noticed far more than anywhere else due to the obvious misspelling

I see enough "no knowledge" advertising here in France when I'm looking thru the sound and vision section online. Typical one today was a Nikon D7100 with 2 photos both very out of focus. And regular no mount mentions on lens. Hence I bought a Tamron 24mm 2.8 for a wholesome 12 euros including the cost of post... Lol ok so it was a oldish lens but takes fair photos.

You know what, I bet you're right. I bet he thought "I'll whack up a hastily produced, nine-word, horrendously misleading advert on Gumtree and replace the brand name with a women's sanitary product. Then some dude will post it on a forum and I'll get all sorts of offers"

I heard that cock-a-cola tried it too but it didn't take off.

I've seen worse on here.. Haha

Sometimes I see something photographed for sale saying they're getting rid of some photography equipment and just think, "Yep, it's good you're selling that..!"

:mooning:

I hate it when lenses have manual zooms only...

It has to be served chilled in Bangcock, otherwise it just doesn't leave a lasting impression :)

It's a conspiracy, there's someone behind the scenes pulling the string..

Anybody know what aperture this lens is. I need to know how much light it will absorb.

Not sure of the exact numbers, as I thought it would be rude to ask, but im pretty sure it is a constant wide aperture....and very absorbent. So absorbent in fact, that you could just get on with rollerblading or dog walking etc without having to worry about it.

No, those activities would be restricted to those using the longer focal length Canon L lenses.

.. the white ones..

Ba.. doom.. tish..

.. don't get your coat, I'm here all week.. ..

Predictive text amuses. Who would have known?

Not some in this thread :D

Surely P(M)T would have picked up Tamron in the body of the text as well?

I'd buy it but for the fact the lens would kick off and throw screaming tantrums every month.

His other items include a lens (Dutch) cap and an ass gasket.

According to my Google searches, perhaps surprisingly this typo has only been seen twice in the wild.. the other was on a DPreview forum post (link).

..and the Gumtree poster still hasn't corrected it..

it was an advert hardly anyone would see... now its an advert photography communiteis are tlaking about and linking to... I wouldn't correct it either :)
