Yes
I've just found out why some artwork one of my clients had printed didn't even come close to matching the original. The local "professional" printing firm hasn't got a clue about colour matching. I've just been in to see them and having calibrated their system with a Spyder they then set out dropping the brightness until the screen matched the output from the un-profiled printer - in photo terms about 3 or 4 stops under exposed. :cuckoo:

So yes the print matches the screen but doesn't even come close to matching anything else. He's asked me to print a proof on my printer so he can try and match his system to it.

Is there a 'Gob-smacked' smiley ???

I had to laugh when I sent someone a FINAL version of a leaflet for them to ok and they complained it was "too blue"

"It's in CMYK for your printer's use" says I - "O" - says they (sheepishly, they had provided their printer's spec for me!)

Very poor for a printers, but is it just me or is this printing business a dark art for others too. I have to admit to being totally lost over these things and I need to get my head around it.
