Never been used apparently. https://www.cameraworld.co.uk/used-canon-ae1-35mm-slr-camera-50mm-f1-8-fd-lens-15.html
Give it a miss anyway as the T70 is far superior![]()
cough cough squeek squeekGot a mint one for €50 last year, the strap and film were dearer!
I seem to have dropped on cameras which have been looked after really well. Quite a few had the bottom part of a case which has protected the base and sides of the camera. Odd metering problem but I've been lucky with my purchases. British Heart Foundation gear has been ace.Where do you get these deals? I only ever look on eBay to be fair but I never see anything like that anymore.
Ive been burnt a couple of times lately though, unless it’s cheap I’m not sure I’ll buy anything unless returns are accepted. I had a Praktica Fx2, listed as fully working. It worked once then the mirror wouldn’t stay down. I worked out what it was, the mechanism that pushes the pin to close the aperture on the lens was bent and didn’t allow the catch that catches the mirror to move back far enough. That went straight back.
After that I bought a Rollei 35b. I didn’t even bother trying the shutter with that. The lens would not stay retracted in the body, it would just fall out. I checked the seller and they have since relisted it as fully tested and working….all the pictures are with the lens out.
For lenses with lubrication might have dried, I've bought one, from the bay, and you couldn't turn the focussing ring..another 2 AF zooms from the bootie (going for about £3 each) and they would only zoom so far, well I forced it and kept working it till it was free (no wonder they were going cheap), but not knowing anything about Canon AF lenses, the lenses are EF-S which ain't much good for my EOS 300v film cameraI remember a few years or maybe more back Ffordes and others had a few batches of unsold Canon FD lenses which had been in a warehouse or stock room somewhere. As far as I remember they were up for sale at more than the usual price of good used examples but not too much more. I haven't seen any other unsold stock for years now so perhaps they've all dried up now.
I wouldn't be interested in an unsold or unused film camera as it's mostly lenses that interest me but wouldn't the perishables need replacing after all these years? If so you'd need to know where to get the bits and pieces and how to DIY or know someone or some company who'd do it for you and that'd add to the cost.
