How much will this sell for ?

Wow! I had a GS 1 for a while and it is definitely a wonderful system, the lenses were pin sharp and everything was exceptionally well made.
My problem was that for some reason I do not like cameras that have film backs, they just confuse me.

There has been a lot of talk over the last two weeks about MF, from 645 through to 6x7 and at the start the larger frame format was highlighted as being the better genre and camera quality.

The strange/funny thing is that some contributors have now started to promote in a big way 645,particularly Bronica, where before they gave it no room at all. There is nothing, but, funny as folk.

Looking at this collection of equipment, I feel that it will settle at around £850.00.

Interesting to know who would buy it all at a high price (Richard reckons £850).... as pros who still use film would probably still have their own gear, so would it be a rich digi guy trying film or maybe a rich filmie moving up from 35mm. h'mm

Most of the lot is odds and sods that would likely fetch less than £20 on their own. Four lenses is good but the four backs are 3 different formats so not as useful for swapping between film stocks or having a spare ready to go. But I don't really follow pricing much so I wouldn't like to guess but I'd not pay much more than £500 for the lot.

If you look at Bronica prices on that site, over the last two years prices have increased by about 60% on average.I think that this auction will go big.

Well if it's a hobby and on a good salary then what's £400-£1000 for film gear even though you can't trust Kodak or Fuji (and others) to maintain supplies of film esp discontinuing your favourite film :(

I was amused by, "The Nikon-inspired Zenzanon lenses for the Bronica are the only ones for MF that equal Zeiss; they are unquestionably better than the Mamiya and Pentax optics."

Well that should upset the 6x7 Pentax guys :D While you could scientifically argue about the difference in lenses, the point is can you see the difference esp as I would think most people are never going to have something bigger than a 16X20" print on the wall.

I'm guessing Hasselblad users might have a quibble with the Bronica being described as the Rolls-Royce. I've seen SQ backs from Japan listed at £90 recently, and the GS backs are considerably rarer than that. Agree with Steven that there are loads of bits such as caps and even keys for the ally case that amount to very little, but you'd never need to go looking for a part ever again. I'm guessing a touch over the £1000, especially as he has so eloquently described why you have to put in your max bid to save you from the snipers. ;)

It's a great set - I agree with the comment about the accessories amounting to very little. And I don't think a complete Bronica set holds quite the same allure as, say, a complete Nikon F2 set or a 500C/M set. But these silly bits in the description about the optics and the max bidding is so naff - it's a strong, nice complete set - so why the need to come up with nonsense like that? It's not like someone who is shopping for a first MF kit is going to actually be swayed by that - it's obviously only a small number of people who would have any interest in this kit.

I recall reading a story once (possibly not true?) about 2 would-be buyers putting in silly high bids to ensure they won the item which was finishing while they were not online. This meant that one of them ended up paying well above the odds for the item, or else backing out and not concluding the sale. I guess this is the indecision that the seller is playing on?

It finished at £625, so I'd reckon that's a bargain for the kit. Somebody must be happy, and probably not the seller!

Well the usual advice is to split and sell separately.

No doubt the rather late addendum of "Just noticed that several of the lenses need a good clean!" did no favours. That was a good price - but a very niche offering really. Very few people looking for a system quite as comprehensive as that.

I suspect that the kit will be split and back on ebay shortly.
