Yes
I have brought 3 lastolite reflectors on ebay and I feel like I'm been in conned into paying extra postage
It's via collect plus and there most expensive delivery is still under £10 and a box doesn't cost much

So what am I missing for it to be so high?

How much have you paid?

Personally I would ask the seller to account for his postage costs you may find he reduces them because if he's a business seller he wont be wanting bad DSR's I wouldnt go in heavy handed but just say your surprised at the cost

Steve

Nope belive he's a normal seller not business
I've asked to possibility have it reduced as it's high

Only payed £10 for all 3
But they had set the postage when they set up the sale

Only from london
Extra as in they want me to over pay and they pocket the extra they are left with
They still haven't sent the invoice but his last message was that it will be £20 postage so just over £30 in total

20 quid for intra-UK postage?
If you pay that, then he's not holding a gun to your head...you're stepping in front of it.

I bid £10 it came and postage set at £20 (European union)
So £30 total
(- a few pence)

But I am refusing to pay £20 postage for something that would at a guess be less than £10

Was it an auction?
Sounds like the item(s) never reached what the seller considered to
be a good price?

I'd report him to ebay TBH
Edit cross posted,
as per Heather's suggestion, regarding fees ;)

Yeah will report in a bit just waiting for there reply about me saying I won't pay that much

Yep auction
not buy now

so you saw the postage cost but bid anyway?

are they fold down? reflectors can be pretty big, thats a lot of packaging if not.

postage will vary depending on how much packaging is needed, size of the parcel and the weight. if youre not happy ask what the dimensions and weight of the parcel is and arrange your own.

They are lastolite 2 X 50cm and 1 X 120cm the bendy wire ones

I thought the £20 might be for the European union area
not 60 ish miles away it will be going

to be honest id be pretty miffed as a seller if you waited until winning the auction before questioning this.

as said, find out the weight and dimensions and ask to arrange your own (at this point as seller id shift all responsibility onto you if they do not arrive).

The only person wrong here in my view is the OP

The eBay seller has done absolutely nothing wrong, they listed what the P&P would be and you knowledge that and still went ahead and bid on it - The only person in the wrong here is you and complaining to eBay will get you no where

I've had some sellers change the postage as either a mistake on posting or have had it reduce on actual final packing and postal weight in
They said it's £20 no less
Obviously I don't want the responsibility on me as they could just send anything and blame it on me

personally i would have queried the postage costs before bidding not after the auction ends good luck

So would you pay for something
That obviously doesn't cost that much to send

I disagree, the buyer should have queried the postage before bidding but the seller is the bad guy/gal here. He/she is a rip off merchant who feels they can charge extra for postage so that it bumps up their profit. eBay used to be full of these types of sellers but they are starting to weed them out. Business seller or not ebay will ban them or restrict their listings if they have enough negs or bad DSR's and rightly so.

Steve

They sent the invoice still at £20 postage

Should I dispute before paying or after receiving it?

Personally Martin if its within what you were willing to pay for the reflectors then I would just pay but I would definately neg them and leave a low 1or2 DSR for postage & packing

I would have not bid on something with a high P&P in the first place

Dispute what exactly?? You are the one that made the error, the seller has done nothing wrong

eBay/Paypal will do nothing and if you refuse to pay it will be you who is penalised

It is people like you and the OP who are a pain on eBay and who need to be avoided

You make the error but fail to accept responsibility for your actions and then go on to neg the seller

They have offered to cancel the transaction
Under -
Reason for request to cancel the transaction: The seller says that both of you disagreed over the terms of the transaction

Might as well just take that

I guess you must be a rip off seller too. Never mind your days are numbered

You are a lucky man

I would grab that offer with both hands

Next time don't bid on items if you are not happy with the cost of the P&P

Nope

The only person who is advocating being a bad trader here is you, exactly the type of person who makes eBay a pile of poo

How?
I have sold items and refunded any extra
And I have had sellers do the same back to me
As it's honest and respectful

Over charging and not offering refund for over payment is a bit much really

Nope

eBay premium seller mate have been for the last two years, well the missus has. If the item costs £3 to post that's what we charge, or used to anyway its all free postage now. I hate eBay sellers who mark up their sales with excessive postage, so does ebay and they're slowly being weeded out. Those and the scam sellers are the ones that make ebay poo.

Steve

I don't like eBay sellers that charge excessive P&P either and I tend to read the listing properly and not bid on something with excessive P&P

I don't bid on something and then complain afterwards about excessive P&P and then leave someone negative feedback, that makes it just as wrong in my book.

I won't leave negative unless I found out it didn't cost £20

If it says European union would that not suggest the £20 would be for that not the uk?

Ok rephrase that
Cheaper in the uk not the rest of the European union
Obviously anything outside our border will be more

I dont understand your problem if you you "BROUGHT" this equipment from Ebay here would not be any postage! :exit:

Ladies and gentlemen I bring you....pedant number one!!!

Naw if I was being pedantic I would have mentioned that the OP's reference of "PAYED" was used incorrectly, "PAYED" means "to seal with pitch or tar to prevent leakage."
the correct word would be "PAID" :p :exit:
