How much is an 18-55 IS kit lens worth?

I'm looking at getting a replacement for the kit lens before prices go completely barmy (a bit late I know, but it's not going to get better any time soon!), and was wondering how much they go for? I haven't been able to find any on here that have been sold recently, but if I'm going to upgrade I'll need the money. Any ideas?

£71 new on ebay but you will probably find it hard to sell as its not a lens people want to generally buy. Most people will want to upgrade from this lens (like yourself) therefore not much of a demand so will go for a lot less.

The lens is actually a cracking lens, but because it comes on the camera, people don't want it. It's a shame.

I might take you up on that! I'm not sure if I'll be selling it yet, I might have to do a fair bit of saving up before I can sell, as I don't want to be left lens-less!

I've been thinking exactly the same Chris, selling the 18-55 IS and buying the Tamron. I bought the 18-55 IS (used) for £50, saying that it was from a mate.

I got mine yesterday, only played with it for a few minutes, but the difference to the kit lens is amazing in every way, yes you will pay for it, but you might get a 2nd hand bargain on ebay if you are prepared to watch a few auctions and set yourself a limit.
