Reading the thread about car servicing and my own experience makes me curious.

My car is telling me a service is required in 800 miles. I will have covered about 10,000 miles over the past year which I think is probably my lowest annual total in the 34 years since passing my test. For quite a few years I would cover 40k miles annually in my job around central and SW England. Given that I would average 40mph that's a lot of time spent in the car, some would say wasted time.

I still enjoy driving: an open country road or quiet(ish) motorway but not the M6 on a Friday afternoon! I'm glad I'm doing fewer miles overall and would be reluctant to take a job where hours of driving were involved these day (if possible).

How many miles do you drive and how do you feel about it?

This thread would benefit from a poll. On average approx 11k/yr. Based on the fact that the car has done 90k and it's eight years old.
I've moved to work, which reduces the journey from 15 miles to 5 miles but I've since married and we're always going to London every other weekend for some reason or other. Complete PITA.

I did think of a poll, but I'm more interested in how members feel about the driving they do, whether that be 500 or 50k miles a year.

Not that many (well under 10,000). Enjoyment? Well, over the years, many of the enjoyable aspects of driving have been eroded, making the roads safer but less fun. We're lucky enough to have a decent car each (which makes the tedious part of getting from A to B less of a chore) as well as the s***box hack which we use for shopping trips and Mrs Nod getting to her studio in town. The Clio is far easier to park and we don't really care if some tw@ opens their door into it or catches it with their shopping trolley. For more fun, I have a couple of bikes which provide far more enjoyment/£ than any car can!

Business mileage about 34k a year in a van, until recently it's never been a great experience because companies tend to go with the cheapest option which means underpowered and noisy. New van is a joy, plenty of power so engine noise is less, all the gadgets inc. cruise control make it more comfortable as well.
Private mileage is about 2k atmo, that may change now as I'm not so tired when I get time off.

Not that much at all, probably about 8000 or less.

I used to be at about 18K per annum. But now I've changed jobs I'm lucky if I do 4K. So good excuse to get a slightly more exotic toy.

I enjoy driving, don't mind it at all. Then again I can't say I'm missing it either.

I used to do around 14-18k a year but now down to around 9k. I love driving and look forward to every opportunity.

7333.33 average over the last 3 years. What annoys me the most is the fact that service intervals are 15,000 miles and yet I have to service once a year.

over the past 5-6 years, according to the MOT certificates, around 1200 miles per year - or, about 1/4 of what I've done on the pushbike in the same time period.

About 6k a year. I work 5 miles away and rarely get chance to go further afield. I enjoy driving except in urban areas and motorways, scenic routes every time for me.

I drive 40 miles a month, every month - so 480 miles per year. I am basically a pedestrian which is how I like it. Always trains if I want to go further.

30000 a year approx. I love driving, so don't mind spending time in the car.

20k work and pleasure.. I also love driving 44 years and the novelty has never worn off... wifes car does about 1k... would be cheaper getting taxis..

About 12k a year, most of which is accounted for going to work and back which is 50 miles a day. A few years back l worked as a phtographer for an estate agents in Sheffield and was doing about 40k a year in short journeys mostly around the city. Was okay at first but l saw the amount of traffic increase a lot during that time. I wouldn't want to do that now.
Still sometimes enjoy driving but really see most of my trips as a means to an end. M1 around here has been a complete pain for last couple of years, with long term roadworks stretching for miles. At peak times it's a crawl, so I tend to go long way round on other rounds. It's less stressful.

I've moved closer to work, so now am only 8 miles away; I'd say about 250 a week absolute max, aw I always do something in the weekends and evening. Just got 115k in my faithful Passat [emoji23]

That will be my September mileage.

About 60,000 business miles PA in the works 4x4
less than 3,000 in my own car.

Was around 30,000 miles a year.
New total remains to be seen.

Around 6000 a year, enjoy driving but some roads can be chore at times,

I am retired now but annual milage was around 40000. I really enjoyed the traveling I still do but now I do 10000/ year

I do a mix of driving for work and pleasure. It generally works out around 15-20k per year. I really enjoy time spent in the car, and I think as most of the mileage is covered in the North of the UK, that the driving is pretty chilled, not too busy and good scenery
The few trips I make south of Sheffield, are usually a lot less fun. The roads are busier, and the traffic is a lot heavier, which sucks the enjoyment out of it.
Likewise, the nighttime road closures are an absolute nightmare, which cause me no end of headaches, sometimes adding 1 to 2 hours on my journey time heading home after work at weekends. I really dont enjoy nighttime country road detours!
