Canon 14 2.8 L
Canon 35 1.4 L
Canon 50 1.4
Canon 85 1.2 L
Canon 17-40 4.0 L
Canon 24-70 2.8 L
Canon 70-200 2.8 IS L
Canon 600 4.0 IS L

Canon 1.4xmk2
Canon 2.0xmk2

35 L and 85 L possibly sold to a mate as they dont get used too much

Looking at a 100 macro or 180 macro and 300 2.8 IS L at some stage in the future.

Sigma 10-20mm (Not used as much as I should. Hopefully use it more when I go to Scotland in October)
Nikkor 18-55mm (Used a fair emount for IR and Long exposure shots)
Sigma 150mm f2.8 (My main lens. Love it and use it all the time)
Sigma 300mm f2.8 (My newest toy which ive used a fair amount recently)

Kenko 1.4X TC
Kenko 2X TC

Next I think id like to go for something like a;
AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D
AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
or
AF Nikkor 35mm f/2D

could also do with replacing the stock lens with something a bit sharper and with IF.

Right, here's my proper answer: (:p)

Nikkor 18-70 - main lens
Nikkor 50mm 1.8 - used occasionally
Micro-Nikkor 200mm f4 MF - have used it once, but not had it long
Sigma 105mm Macro - used quite a bit
Sigma 120-300 2.8 - used a lot
Sigma 70-300 APO - not used at all now, think it might be faulty - doesnt AF well on the D70.
1.4TC - I think this is faulty too :( - there is some play in the mount

On the shopping list:

85mm 1.8
70-200 f2.8 VR

And one of the new long Nikkors that just got VR....

Very nice shopping list, would be near the top on of list also :)

...from the man that takes the whole family along when togging, each armed with a body and lens.... talk about putting the kids to work  ;)

Well why else would I take my kids along  :p

In order of focal length (and coincidentally in order of most used)

24-70 F2.8L
70-200 F2.8L IS
300 F4L IS

+ 1.4 TC

I think a 16-35 may be on the cards next

Nikon 18-200VR - general use lens
Sigma 10-20 - love the piccies from this one.
Sigma 30mm f/1.4 - Very handy little lens
Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 - Used for Cricket/Aircraft along with 1.4TC and it is a superb lens.

Thinking about the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 for football/lacrosse/netball etc as the other 2.8 is too big and needs a monopod. Would also love the Nikon 28-70 but it's kinda pricey!

Feeling like a bit of a glutton here....
EF-S10-22 (in the post)
EF17-35 f/2.8L
EF28-70 f/2.8L
EF28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS
EF35-350 f/3.5-5.6L
EF70-200 f/2.8L
EF-S60 macro (due to depart soon)
EF100 macro
EF180L macro
MP-E65 macro (in the post)
EF300 f/4 ISL
EF400 f/5.6L
EF-S18-55 kits
EF2x, EF1.4x, Kenko 1.4x, Sigma 1.4x

And I still can't take a half decent shot:shake:

Firstly, how do you remember them all?

And secondly, how do you choose what to use? There's a lot of overlapping there. ;)

In answer to the question, how many lenses do you own...

I own a whopping 1 lens!

It will do me for now. Christmas 07 is not far away...

Just 4 at the moment, in order of most used.

Sigma 10-20mm
Nikon 55-200mm
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 (only just got this, but love it so far.)
Nikon 18-55mm

18-55 and 55-200 will be sold soon, and will be replaced by a 28-70 and 70-200

Have sold 2 recently as they weren't being used so I'm down to 4, but the only 2 I actually use are

Nikkor 17-55 f2.8
Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VR plus TC14E-II

Firstly, how do you remember them all?

And secondly, how do you choose what to use? There's a lot of overlapping there. ;)

How do I remember them all?....my wife lists them and reminds me how much I spent on them.

Overlap?....not really (35-350 apart). The zooms are always better if you stear clear of their top and bottom limits and the macro's are each fairly specific. The 60 and the 100 are quite close...hence the 60 will depart soon.

3 that I use: Nikon 18-200 VR, Sigma 30 f/1.4, Sigma 10-20.

At the moment, the 30 hasn't really been off my camera for a while since I've not done any proper shooting. The 18-200 is my favourite, though.

At the moment only 3 Lenses

24-105 L (Most Used every day lens)
Canon 100 macro (used a lot)
Canon 50 1.8 II
Kit + 55-200 (Never used this 2 )

Hernando

Nikon 18-17mm kit
Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 macro
Sigma 105mm 2.8 macro

And to get by the end of the year:
Nikon 50mm 1.8

35 L and 85 L possibly sold to a mate as they dont get used too much

You only just bought those didnt you..

In order of usage:

Tamron 17-50 f2.8
Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro
Nikon 50mm f1.8D
Nikon 28-200 f3.5-5.6

Next on the shopping list:
Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR
Sigma 10-20
1.4x Teleconverter

I really do need the 70-200 VR as I'm currently using the sigma 105 as my long lens for weddings and it's not too hot on the ol' focussing, that said it has forced me to improve my manual focussing technique.

I really do like the tamron 17-50, for the price it's hard to think of a better lens that does what it does although if money was no object I'd still take the nikon 17-55.

The 50mm gets used a fair bit, invaluable for low-light photography, of which I do a lot of and an absolute steal for the price.

The 28-200 is a surprisingly good lens that is there more of a backup these days, does occasionally get an outing though.

In order of usage

Sigma 55-200 DC
Sigma 135-400 APO DG
Canon EF-S 18-55
Sigma 70-300 APO Macro DG
Canon EF 35-80

All this will be changing as of tomorrow when my Sigma 70-200 DG EX 2.8 arrives:love: I'll probably have a bit of a cull in the future as I also want to get a Sigma 17-70 2.8 and a good macro lens (probably a Sigma 150) so the 55-200,70-300 and 35-80 will be off to pastures new.

10-20 f4-5.6
17-40 f4L
70-200 f4L
50 f1.8 mk2
60 f2.8 macro (in the post)
300 f4L

For Canon

Sigma 10-20
Sigma 24-70 - needs fixing and selling
Canon 50mm f/1.8
Canon 24-70 OMGL
Canon 100-400 OMGL
Canon 28-105
Canon 80-200

Carenar 135mm f/2.8
Topcor 55m f/1.7
Aico 2x TC
Cosina 28mm f/2.8

For Frodo!

I only really need the 10-20 + 24-70. Thats a range I'm happy with. I could go to a 5D with 24, 50, 85 primes. I don't need uber zoom or macro or etc. People + landscapes.

I need to get rid of at least one, too much overlap

Canon 18-55 kit
Tamron 17-50 2.8
Canon 28-105 MKII
50mm 1.8

People buy those things ? :p

I have at present,
50 1.8
50 1.4
50 2.5 Macro
65 MPE
85 1.2L X2, don't ask
100 2.8 Macro
300 2.8L is
17-40L
24-70L
70-200L is
1.4 tc
2X tc

Most used are 70-200 and 300 with tc's.

There's a big sale coming soon to make way for a 500 or 600

I try to get my wife to do the carrying but find I have to leave the kit lenses at home or she gets tired too quickly [/QUOTE said:
So you are not a member of the FairTrade Society :lol::lol:

Weren't you trying to cut the weight down Doug?

Indeed:D

A lot of these are older (but still superb) lenses which I bought for the M6. They work perfectly on the Leica however.

Just to put it into perspective though, the entire collection of Leica lenses probably weighs about the same as a 1D and a short L zoom.

I'd only carry 2 or 3, and with the leica, the whole outfit would weigh about the same as a 30D and kit lens:D
