Thought this would be interesting to see how many languages we all speak :)

I only speak English fluently, I can speak a bit of Spanish I learnt at school, very basic Russian (I can read Cyrillic too) and some words and phrases in Czech to get by.....just. I'm hoping to start German lessons soon though.

I admit it's pretty poor as lots of people I work with speak up to 5 or more languages, my gf can speak Russian, English, Czech all fluently and is learning German too now!
 
One....English, although I can order a beer in most languages, which is all you really need to get by on holiday, isn't it? :lol:
 
English, American, Canadian, Australian - can do the accents too.

I find if you speak English slower and louder everyone understands you up to a point.
 
Mummy always said she spoke three languages. English, yiddish and rubbish.

I can get by with my English, but also have rusty French and even worse German.

I actually have an A-level in French, but I haven't used it for about 10 years now.
 
English (obviosly), enough French to get by with and a very small amount of German and Spanish.

English, Arabic and Turkish .. but can get a good punch in my face with atleast another 5 ~ 6 languages :p
 
Only English fluently, but I can hold conversations in German and know enough to get by. Helps im doing it at Alevel really.

English, but I can say "a**holes to all Englishmen" in Welsh... And honestly it's enough to get by with.
 
English and German.

And at one point was learning Japanese. That went down the drain only because I didnt really get it :bang:

Did do French for one year, but packed that in cos I was utterly crap at it :D
 
English. Worked as a service engineer for a few years and picked up a bit of French, Spanish, German and Greek.
Tend to get a bit confused and mix them up.(Must be my age) :shrug:
 
English, enough French to get by and enough Greek to get fed and drunk! (and a room for the night, a tankfull of fuel and a hire car). A tiny bit of German if I have to.
 
i speak english, french, italian and spanish fluently.... English and italian because of my parents nationality, french because i lived in belgium for most of my childhood and spanish because i mostly live in the dominican republic.

And the great thing is i dont have an accent in any of them which confuses people loads as they think im born in the country but cant tell were from :D
 
A little bit of Japanese plus my native Geordie language:lol:
 
I can speak English, and a mediocre amount of german. I'm gonna be screwed in my new job :bonk:
 
English is my 1st but i'm learning some Japanese and can speak some basics. I know some French too. Going to learn to become more fluent in Japanese and French though.:D
 
I speak English (obviously) and also French (though not as well as I used to). I can also order a beer in German and Thai, and know the ins and outs of how to tell someone to '**** off', both politely and slightly more bluntly, in Thai...something you learn very quickly when being hassled by street traders while you're having a beer!
 
English & German. My French was once near-fluent, but is rapidly going the way of the dodo. Have dabbled semi-seriously in Italian, and very superficially in Polish, Dutch and Greek. I can also understand a little Glaswegian.

I am surprised no one speaks Mandarin (sp.), with China being close to 20% of the world's population, and a huge economy :shrug:
 
First Language (mother tongue) is Hakka, then i learn Cantonese, then i learn English.

Now I am actually most fluent in English, then Cantonese and then Hakka (gone all backwards), I can speak all 3 fluently but i can't really read or write chinese anymore.
 
I'm fluent in English and Welsh and I can also speak a little bit of French and Spanish :)
 
Seems a pretty good spread of languages here then :)
 
Interesting thread. I speak French, Spanish and Catalan pretty much fluently (I study French & Hispanic Studies at university). I'm a male languages student who wants to be a teacher, so a bit of a rarity really considering at least 75% of the students on my course are female. What's more, every single one of the male language teachers I've met so far has been gay. Time to question my sexuality? :shrug: :lol:
