So I got myself the 1Ds MkII lately and I am just curious to know how many images I could expect to fit on a 1Gb card if I shoot simultaneous RAW and best Jpeg.

It is normally around 77 or so on my 20D and recently saw that it dropped to 41 or so on my recently acquired 5D.

Will I even get 30 on the 1D?

Give it to me gently...:naughty:

lol not sure, but cant you put a card in a see what it says? :p also it will fluctuate quite a bit depending on what you photograph, more info/detail in the shot = bigger file size. Also higher ISO = larger file sizes.

What Jimmy said - if you insert a card it will show you how many roughly anticipated images you'll get which will obviously change as you change file format from RAW to jpeg and change image sizes. :)

Why not pick up a 4gb card? Sure I saw a post earlier saying they were £20 at the moment...

Problem is I still have to wait a few days for it to ship here:bang::bonk::bang::bonk:

:D

I always shoot simultaneous RAW + best quality Jpeg so will need to buy PLENTY more and possibly bigger cards soon...

Don't forget Anton, that the 1 Series bodies allow you to write the backup file to the SD slot if you wish. Spreads the load a bit. :D

Do realize that CT:thumbs:, but what I am really after is simply a rough idea of how many R+Jp images to 1GB / Mb size of 1 R + Jp image.

As said previously I am EXTREMELY superstitious about big cards and the risk of a card failure.

Common sense might well dictate that I am forced to buy cards larger than 1Gb...

Anyone with experience with card failures?

CF or SD more prone:shrug:

On a cop salary, what do you think...:thumbs:

Checks out good and can't wait to get my grubby little claws on it:thumbs:

Really cannot complain though, I have really been blessed. Got a spotless low mileage 5D less than a month back for a tad under half the new price...

lets see a few shot when you get it !

For sure!

Hope to have it by this time next week:D

Need to start looking for a few good primes in the mean time...
