How many do you take, how many do you keep?

Pauly

I have emailed the manager with my website details. He's going to email all the parents and players in the next day or so.

Then I will see.

There are two matches on with just over 200 photos on.

So I reckon I'll see pretty soon whether it's worth my while or not.

I keep almost everything as disk space is cheap - however, I only PP 5% or less and the remainder are kept as good lessons of what I did wrong on the day.

Yes disk space is cheap - which reminds me, I need to get more space on my NAS drive.

That's a pain as it's 4 disks and you need to replace each disk, then let it rebuild the RAID.

I delete 90% of my images, not because 90% are not keepers but because I really like having just 1 or two to look at.

Example, this weekend I went to the park with my daughter and got 20 shots 15 of which were perfect keepers, but I only kept 2 because - well how many shots do I need of her at the park that day? I find it much more interesting to look at a few pics than lots of pics so I'm very frugal, any slight duplicate of a shot i'll dump

So the next step is to only take two pictures, instead of wasting all that extra time and shutter cycles on pictures you will never use.

I usually keep everything. I sometimes delete the odd shot if it's completely blurred or out of focus. This approach does take a lot of disc space though.

I'm the same. Apart from the real duffers, I hang on to everything. The best ones get polished up, posted to Facebook/Flickr/sent around to others, depending on the subject, and the other 80% sit on the hard drive. Sometimes I might come back to them, as my PP skills are improving I often revisit older shots edit them in a way I didn't previously know how to. Other times it's just nice to hang onto them - a photo of my family is still nice, even if the compostion is a bit duff, or it's slightly over-exposed slightly etc.

I don't like to delete from the camera but rather see them clearly on screen first. By which time they've been saved in several locations so remain floating about on back up drives.

A simple quote from Les McLean(He knows his stuff) over the weekend...... You can't polish a turd so if it's crap delete it. If it's a memory keep it if not DELETE!!!!!!! AND TRY AGAIN.

Actually you can polish a turd (mythbusters did it)

Personally I only delete total failiure's, flash not fired or whatever, everything else gets backed up, whats to say in 10 years time new software won't be able to "save" some of the slightly off images? Besides it's all part of history of that day, and lets face it space is cheap now.

At this early stage I keep everything, as I want to see if I improve with each photo shoot, I currently have two folders with loads of photos I have taken and like to compare and try to find out how Im doing

We seem to have a lot of Mythbusters fans on here....me included.

My quote is simple and true......if it's **** it's ****
