10-12 mins on a george forman for me!

although I did hear Matthew Fort (TV Foodie bloke) say it takes 90 mins to cook a sausage properly, very low heat for a very long time.

In that time I'd have
a) given up and eaten something else
b) be ready for lunch (assuming they were for breakfast)
c) Probably forgot about them and either cremated them or burnt down the house!

oh no during the cooking time i have a nice cup of real coffee and prep all other breakfast things..

Is that a euphemism?

20 mins in the oven:thumbs: Do yours take so long because of the heat diffuser?

no not a euphemism.

yes it is because of the diffuser but it makes them so tasty...

Well Gumbo looks like you are just going have to start cooking them earlier.

Sausages - how long? Usually about 4".

Seriously, I find they take longer in the oven, but taste better cooked in a pan or on a griddle on a high heat and for about 15 mins.

A little while back one of the many TV chefs said pork should be cooked quickly and applied the same logic to sausages. My take is you cook quickly or very slow - anything in between renders the meat tough.

Had bangers and mash last night - lovely.

“Prick with a fork”

- No, not you, Chef!

Mine takes 2 minutes, comes with chips and beans as well. No washing up either. :D

I like mine fried and like David above, I cook 'em until they look done on the outside then split them and do the middle. OR, fry for a few minutes to get the outside brown then whack 'em in the oven until cooked through (not sure of timing - they're done when the hole is cooked around the toads!).

Many years ago, while in a shared house, we had a big deep frier so everything for a fryup went in at the same time apart from the bacon and eggs which went in at the last moment. When the chips (frozen, of course) were done, the bangers (also frozen and very budget) were ready.

I really like that plan ;)

fried or grilled then split to cook the insides.

although recently ive been oven cooking them and adding batter to make toad in the hole!

we've had some lovely sausages recently, pork and cracked black pepper from the market, they;re about 8 inches long and about an inch and a half round, nom nom nom

tasty as ****!

deep fried sausages are vile!

but is what many 'cafe's' do though as its quick, easy and cooks them through.

I prefer shallow fried or grilled and I dunno, depends on the sausage, can be anything between 15 minutes for a chipolata to 40 mins for nice fat one....oh yes, I also prefer beef sausages over pork :naughty:

20-30 minitues in a pyrex tray/bowl of water (how my gran does them) B-E-A-Utifull!

If your asking me then its till they are brown all over so could vary depending on sausage thickness and what they are being cooked in/on.

If you are asking my wife its till the smoke dector does its job and deafens the naighbourhood:D:lol::lol::D

They're minced pork meat. How in the world will they end up tough?

Fried for 15-20 mins for me. Sausages go in pan, five mins later the bacon goes in. When bacon is cooked it goes on top of the sausages to make room for the egg. When egg is almost cooked, sausages go on the plate, leaving the bacon warming up in the fat/oil again. Then bacon on plate, then egg on plate. Unless you have a very big frying pan, this will only work if you live on your own.

And of course the most important bit is

i like cumberland the best but has to be proper butcher ones..and yes i do cook them for an hour or more

I only eat Lincolnshire sausages from Odlings of Navenby, i love 'em
cooked for 15 mins.
