You're meant to cook them ?
Many years ago, while in a shared house, we had a big deep frier so everything for a fryup went in at the same time apart from the bacon and eggs which went in at the last moment. When the chips (frozen, of course) were done, the bangers (also frozen and very budget) were ready.

They're minced pork meat. How in the world will they end up tough?Sausages - how long? Usually about 4".
Seriously, I find they take longer in the oven, but taste better cooked in a pan or on a griddle on a high heat and for about 15 mins.
A little while back one of the many TV chefs said pork should be cooked quickly and applied the same logic to sausages. My take is you cook quickly or very slow - anything in between renders the meat tough.
Had bangers and mash last night - lovely.
