How Long have you been doing photography?

Bought my first DSLR back in May in time for a Summer trip to Rome and Prague. I've always been interested in photography but have been limited to point and shoots due to budget issues, but decided it was time to move up a grade :D. All I can say is that its been a wonderful learning process so far.

I was 10 when I was shown how to make contact prints which started me off- and that's 56 years ago. How scary is that? Seen some changes I'd never have thought possible, and in many ways photography is more exciting than it's ever been - in other ways it's lost something too, but I reckon I'm on now till the last stop.

A real veteran!!! I love reading posts like this, just shows how much of a life changing hobby it can be.

I had various compacts and ended up with an OM10 many years ago.
I lost interest for a long time and got back into photography 18 months ago.
The digital age is perfect for me and the being able to process my own photos is a major bonus.
I am well and truly hooked and my only regret is my bank balance :D

Oh Dear! dare I say it? 1954

Doesn't time pass when you're having fun!
:)

I first realised I had an interest in photography in summer 2006, when I was buying a new compact and decided on a Panasonic LX1 because it had full manual controls. That camera allowed me to experiment more, but I didn't get any more 'serious' until I started university in Sep '07 and joined the photographic society.

I learnt more, and purchased my first DSLR, a Sony A200 back in November 2008, but sold it 3 months later for a Canon 40D (I preferred the handling and controls, and after researching the lenses I thought Canon would be the best option.)

I don't really have certain things I shoot, it's purely a hobby at the moment. At uni, I cover events and have also got into gig photography about 6 months ago.

And that's my story so far!
