How Long have you been doing photography?

I've been serious about photography around 2-3 years now but have been keen for at least 10 yrs and am mostly into portraits and wildlife.

About 6 weeks now

Still finding what I like best at the mo as every thing is of interest

28 years since I bought my first SLR (OM10 - still got it!)

and still take some crap in between the good ones

best bit is the weddings 'cos I get paid!

Got my EOS 30 film camera back in 2001, shot about 50/60 rolls, over the course of about 3 years and then got a Canon Compact, and kinda semi retired my SLR from about 2004 onwards until 2006 when i got a 30D and it took off from there.

But it's only been the last 2 years when i really found what i love to shoot.

I've been in to photography for about 20 years. I like to shoot people but when I'm not doing that I take photos of them instead. People are so much easier than landscapes or buildings or wildlife because you can ask them to step inside where it's warm and dry.

I bought my first SLR in 1983, and still enjoy photography now as much as when I first began. My favourite subjects are landscapes and architecture, and have been working with black & white for most of that period. I'd agree with Chaz, you always learn and discover something new.

Not been doing it long but used to watch my dad in the dark room and was fascinated by it, still finding out what works best for me, loved taking pics of the red arrows though while out in Cyprus :)

I have been into it for a year now I bought a compact camre last year and then ended up getting in to it so upgraded to an SLR this year. I am just learning what I like to photograph.

Exactly TWO YEARS TO THE DAY I joined this forum!! So, very approximately, 2 years...

I love it, but at times I find it a real challenge. Depending of the nature of said challenge, it can really put me in a foul mood...

Otherwise...it's all good! :D

In terms of what I like shooting most? Landscapes and a distant second, people.

Gary.

2 years, landscape and wildlife.

Have done plenty of the latter, but time permitting would love to get some landscape shots this year

Took my first picture when I was 6 or 7 but didn't really get into "photography" until I was 14, about 32 years ago. Still learning like we all are!

What do I like taking photos of most? Crete!!! (with Dartmoor and the South West peninsular coast being my favourite UK subjects)

Got my 1st SLR at about 13, so 24 odd years.

I had a large break between the age of about 22 and got back into it 2 or 3 years ago.

Hi, I shot film (slides) for many years, but turned digital at the end of 1999, not looked back since. Returned to club/competitive photography 2 years ago and started entering exhibitions again. I'm currently awaiting my AFIAP distinction (March, 2010) and well on my way to meeting the criteria for EFIAP (March, 2011). I'm also a keep supporter of the British Photographic Exhibitions (BPE), having gained over 130 acceptance in the last 2 years.

I am also the founder member of DAPA Group (www.dapagroup.com), an Internet photography group, affiliated to the PAGB through our membership of the MCPF.

Check out our award winning gallery for samples of my work.

I got my first DSLR 2 years ago. I like all types of photography, but my favourites are Macro and Landscape.

Always had some sort of camera, but photography for me started on the 21/1/2009 when I joined TP

Only a few weeks! Loving it so much, even though half the time I don't actually know what I'm talking about! Need to learn SO much, but still, it's rather fantastic :D
I especially like sports photography and portraits :)

I have been into photography since I got my first compact camera (took 110 film) when I was abut 7 yrs old - so for me a little over 20 yrs!

Was fascinated by my grandads SLR and range finders from being little and then from the age of 10 / 12 was allowed to actually use them! Took a photogrpahy course at 16 / 17 using his manual SLR (pracktika), then bought my first slr in 2003, and my dslr last year.

I like natural history (fauna / flora / landscape) and some family snaps. I also like photo journalism type shots when travelling in cities.

40 years. (look I was young!)

I started when I was 4 and developed (pun intended) a real interest while at school where we had a darkroom.

Love shooting people and aspire to take really great portraits as well as wedding stuff.
Also have an odd fascination with architecture.

since 1963

I started with a DSLR in July this year. Before then all my photography was done with point & shoot Fuji which I've had about 2 yrs (and still use for video) so I'm a real newbie at this! (Still I'm only 30)

Thirty years man and boy, hardest game in the world that is. :)

Actually it's forty years, my interest started when I was three because a friend of my dads was a photographer. I made Lego cameras and 'photographed' everything.

Hi. My girlfriend at the time, now wife bought me a zeiss nettar 120 to take on my first West indies cruise as a boy seaman in the RN in 1954.

Been taking pictures since.

Perhaps one day I will get good at it!

That's a long long time.

About 1 week, still working my way around using my first DSLR but loving every second of it so far. Even if there is copious amounts of swearing when i get the exposure wrong!

Ive been doing photography for about 8 months now, really enjoying it! :)

I'm into action shots (i.e. motorsport).

And im going to the local nature reserve tomorow so il see what i get!

Got my first camera for my 21st birthday, been in love with photography ever since - 12 1/2 years ago

about 30 something years. Sports is my thing :)

On and off for 46 years. Having kids meant I lost my darkroom, still got all the kit gathering dust in the loft.

Best thing is being able to use a 'digital darkroom' any time anywhere with no hassle !

I have been taking photographs on and off for about 40 years, but expect to get some good images soon!

You know it's difficult to say, not very long anyway. I had my dslr before I was 'into' photography really, which I bought on a whim because I was looking for something to replace golf and make walking the dogs more interesting, for me not the dogs ;) I've had my 40D for almost two years but it's probably just over a year that I went out specifically to get a photograph. And being talked into doing my sister inlaws wedding which I definately didn't want to do but glad I did.

I bought my D40 this time last year. Only started to make an effort to grasp the basic principles in the last month ***. I've been a busy man ...

I made Lego cameras and 'photographed' everything.

Post up some pix then! :D

26 years on and off, started with Canon AE1 for about fifteen years then stopped until Last year when a friend lent me his 350D for the London TDF prologue. Got bitten by the bug and now have a 7D. Love Wildlife, Landscapes, Industrial and just recently getting into macro stuff.
