For a ship to sail from USA to the UK, some how I think the one my new roof is on may be a rowboat........or it sank and no one has noticed:shrug:

3 weeks so far its been in transit, this is going to hurt my insurance company a lot

Won't it depend on whether it left the USA headed east or west?

If you have some ship info the following website may be helpful: Link

Pete, as I said in your other post, I had to have a new shell for my 900 Turbo 16 Valve in 1990. Three weeks from Sweden, and the first time they sent the wrong one, so another 3 plus weeks I had to wait for the correct one.

Had my accident Jan 19th and got the car back Good Friday at Easter!

Pete, it's not the cost to the insurers I'd be concerned about, more the cost of people thinking the Ford KA is YOURS!!!!!!!

Best to drive only while wearing dark glasses or someone might recognise you!

 :D

3 weeks isn't a long time for a boat. i import goods from brazil (and noooo... it's not white bags of powder, it's tiles!) and they have 4 weeks shipping time... but it can take 4 weeks for the stuff to be taken to the port in rio to start off with. then the stuff lands at tilbury docks, then it's another week to get to manchester. it's only the 21st century.. what more can we expect??

i'd give it another 3 weeks then make enquiries if it's not with you - depends where in USA it's shipping from i suppose too.

I think its coming direct from GM and going to UKraine they may have misheard the country

It was supposed to be here yesterday but didnt arrive so the garage were waiting another day but no one seems to know where it is coming from or where it will dock:thinking:............seems a lot of money to be floating around somewhere and no one has any idea where it is:shrug:

13-14 days or so to cross the pond in the vessels i used to work on, but they were slow 12-14 knots max. IIRC a cargo ship should see about 10 days and cruise ships do it in about 7 or 8. weather will influency the sail considerably.

As leftcurl says though , you have all the other delays to think about.

So it looks like at least one more week of hire for the car I am in.........this claim must be astronomical to my insurers as the garage are also charging a daily rate to securely store my car and b****r knows how much that is

Have owned one for the last five years !!!!!!!!!

My previous car was a KA and it never let me down in ten years

£15/day. ;)

Kev.

This is now becoming a bit of a joke..............The garage called me on Monday saying the roof had got there and was on its way to Hull with the car on a transporter for fitting and it would be ready in 2-3 days...........guess what..........only the wrong @*$^¬"g roof sent over ..............:bang:

Now my car has been brought back to the incompetent garage back in Scunny where it now is waiting for .......... wait for this

A CUSTOM ROOF ...........to be made up for it :cuckoo:..........are my insurance company mad, I have already told them I would accept a cash in lieu settlement or let them write it off providing I can buy the car back, but they are adamant they are going to repair this car:shrug:

I am lost for words now

Pete don't knock it, it will be your dream car again once its complete.

But I have to ask.............. why a custom roof?
surely it had the standard roof on originally and therefore a standard roof for that year/model would fit!

I suspect the garage have ordered the incorrect roof for the year/model. As you said incompetent.

On another note, if its custom, do you get to choose the colour, perhaps green, Gold or tan?????

There is an MGF near where we live which is navy with a red/burgundy roof. Its a limited edition apparently, possibly limited by the low number of people who think it looks good!

Hope its all sorted for you soon

From what I have been told..................by the manager of the garage:help:

Saab imported 300 900SE convertibles into the uk which sold out rather fast so for the next year they built around 80 more but the roof was slightly different ...... well not the roof the arms and this seems to be the problem

Graham your jokes get worse:lol:

Considered just getting a removable hard top? Thats what I plan to do with my MGF soon. They are easily removable and a bit harder to jam a knife through them than a soft top.

James

The hood is being made in UK lol by a specialist firm Alex and then shipped to another specialist .............. guess where .....for fitting lol

I wouldn't worry Pete, by the time they get it sorted it will be warm enough so you won't want it up. :D
